We're hiring a VP, Brand Marketing.
About our team and what we'll build together
Our marketing team is a small group of fast-moving, data-driven and creative thinkers who nurture and grow theSkimm brand and community, while driving audience growth and engagement across all platforms. In 2022, we're gearing up to continue making an impact for millenial women and enabling them to live their smartest lives.
You will be responsible for leading the team that brings our brand, events, strategic marketing partnerships, product launches and go-to-market campaigns to life. This role is equal parts strategic, creative, and execution oriented. You will lead the strategy, ideation, and execution of marketing campaigns at theSkimm always through the lens of our high brand standards. We're looking for someone who can leverage insights on our audience, products and market trends to build an innovative approach to messaging, campaign ideas, and tactics targeting current Skimm'rs and new audiences alike at key moments in their user journey. Above all, you are creative and can lead concepting and creative reviews.
You will be critical to the success of the business long term and will be a player-coach leading a nimble team while working in collaboration with growth, audience development, performance marketing, social media, and insights. This role will run an integrated approach, in partnership with leaders across the company, to drive key moments in the year, which ladder up to the greater brand vision and business goals. This role will report into the SVP of Brand Marketing & Communications and will lead a team of six.
How you'll contribute to our mission
Strategy

  • Create programs that drive brand awareness, engagement and increase brand trust, in addition to supporting theSkimm's growth and revenue goals
  • Develop strategies and initiatives to reach new and diverse audiences, while deepening engagement with existing audiences
  • Manage the brand and marketing strategy, messaging, and go-to-market planning
  • Lead the evolution of our event and tentpole strategy and implementation
  • Lead marketing for media, event, campaign and new product launches (inclusive of positioning, messaging, value propositions)
  • Support the development of our strategic marketing partnerships strategy


Team

  • Manage a team of six smart, passionate marketers who focus on brand, campaigns, partnerships and events
  • Refine and drive processes, tools, goal-setting and reporting


Execution

  • Manage the team executing go-to-market campaigns for new initiatives, on-going campaigns, events and strategic marketing partnerships
  • Own stakeholder alignment around brand campaigns, project briefing, planning, budgeting, cross functional communication, and execution
  • Success metrics will tie to quarterly and annual priorities aligned with: key brand metrics (awareness, relevance, favorability), growth, loyalty, and revenue

We're looking for a passionate, creative and strategic leader with a track-record of building brands through innovation, creativity and storytelling. You will have a deep understanding of how brand and digital marketing intersect to drive growth in fast-moving environments and will be someone who builds strong partnerships across the industry and serves as an enabling force within the organization. You will demonstrate a bias toward action and be ready to roll up your sleeves to get things done. You will have a flexible and creative mindset to try different marketing approaches but can also pull from a track record of prior success.
Ideal qualifications/experience:

  • 10+ years of brand / consumer marketing experience
  • 4+ years of management experience
  • Experience building innovative brands and go to market campaigns
  • Capacity to balance short-term needs with longer term vision
  • Fluency in digital marketing, including a clear understanding of building brands and communities in digital channels, social media, content, etc.
  • Understanding of the interplay between brand and performance marketing and how to best leverage across channels
  • Exceptional project management and presentation skills
  • Experience working at hyper-growth, fast-paced organizations
  • A love of theSkimm's brand and respect of its audience

What about the office?
This is a full-time role based in New York, NY with flexibility for remote work.
Our office is available to use three days a week - Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. We have a hybrid environment and ask that employees within the New York Metro area come together in person a minimum of three days per month. All other days are up to the discretion of the employees during the three days a week that the office will be open. We are continuing to closely monitor the state of COVID-19 in New York and will adjust this plan accordingly.
We will require COVID-19 vaccinations for anyone coming to our office. We are following CDC recommendations and will also require additional boosters, and will always follow CDC and NY state guidance on wearing masks in the office.
