Oscar is continuing to expand the scope and depth of clinical services offered to our members, blurring the line of what is (and isn’t) “the role” of an insurance company. The Care Delivery team is at the nexus of this approach - owning and designing the member experience for Oscar ‘care journeys’ (e.g. finding a specialist, managing a chronic condition, requesting an urgent telemedicine consult, etc..). To support care journeys, the Care Delivery team has four channels for providing clinical services - Concierge, Telemedicine, Complex Case Management (CCM), and the Oscar Center (OC).

As a Manager of Care Delivery Operations you will be responsible for identifying (supporting role) opportunities for better coordination between these four channels and operationalizing (leading role) technology, process, staffing, and training changes to close these opportunities. Leading a growing team of operations associates and analysts, you will ensure that Oscar is providing an excellent clinical experience for its members. You will be the main operational point of contact between the Oscar Center, Telemedicine, and Complex Case Management channels and report to the Medical Director for Care Delivery.

Responsibilities:

The role will combine day-to-day operations support with long-term, strategic process improvement. You should be comfortable in a fast-paced ever changing environment and as part of a growing team.

You will:

  • Build, manage and constantly improve upon the workflows and systems that allow the
Care Delivery team to operate effectively. Some examples of projects you’ll support:
    • Connecting the dots: Building a process to refer high-risk Oscar Center members flagged during Telemedicine consults into the Complex Case Management program.
    • Removing redundant systems: Understanding and simplifying the Complex Case and Telemedicine messaging systems; determining synergies and migrating to one system. Which systems can we cut out to simplify the Telemedicine call flow? Can we use the same EHR across all 3 pathways?
    • Expanding scope: Extend current Oscar Clinic pilots to Telemedicine and Concierge, determining where our telemedicine physicians can be best leveraged.
  • Be the gateway and spokesperson for requests to our PopHealth and Product teams on behalf of the three pathways. Ensure requests are thoughtful, and there is no overlap between teams.

About You:

While no prior industry experience is required, the ideal candidate will have a passion for healthcare, a desire to learn about health insurance and the ability to work in a highly cross-functional role. Key components for success include:

  • Intellectual curiosity and drive
    • An innate desire to understand how systems and processes work the way they do
    • Comfortable learning new things and managing competing and ambiguous priorities.
    • Willingness to grow, learn and work as a member of a cross-functional team
    • Ability to work independently and drive projects to completion
  • Outstanding structured and critical thinking, analytical
    • A penchant for systematically approaching problems while maintaining attention to crucial details
    • Ability to translate business discussions into clear, concise, specific requirements and deliverables.

A plus….

  • 5+ years management experience in high growth companies with a clear track record of excellence
  • An understanding of healthcare operations, health economics, and/or health insurance
  • Proven track record in leading peers and junior team members in organic and formal settings.
  • A data-driven approach to problem-solving
  • A thoughtful and humble attitude, ready to work on meaningful, impactful problems
