Role

MobilizeAmerica is at a pivotal point in its growth. After a successful midterm cycle (450+ campaigns, including 33 out of the 38 flipped Democratic House seats, and 380,000 volunteers signing up for 750,000+ shifts), we’re gearing up for the Presidential cycle. We’re also rapidly expanding our base of partners working on critical ballot initiatives, advocacy campaigns, and more.

As MobilizeAmerica’s Biz Ops Manager, you will be responsible for a fast-moving portfolio of cross-functional projects designed to make sure the business runs smoothly and grows fast.

This role is perfect for people looking to jump head first from management consulting or strategy roles into Democratic politics and progressive organizing, ahead of the most important election cycle of our lives.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Analytics

    • Internally champion analytics to all teams -- coaching them on best practices, developing tools to democratize data, and helping them ensure that their processes and conversations are data-driven and insightful

    • Build dashboards and reports using SQL, Excel, and other tools to ensure full team visibility of KPIs

  • Process optimization and automation

    • Source and implement tools to automate internal processes, enabling the partnerships, product, success, and engineering teams to become more efficient and effective

    • Keep the trains running on time: As a rapidly growing business, we are constantly identifying new business functions and projects to ensure that the business grows quickly and sustainably. Recent projects include setting up our billing and payments infrastructure and developing our corporate values and code of conduct

  • Growth

    • Run dozens of experiments to grow our base of volunteers and organizations

    • Advocate for new products and features that will help our platform grow rapidly and sustainably as part of our product roadmap development process

    • Experiment with new marketing tactics to identify the most highly converting and scalable approaches to generating and closing new leads -- for both volunteers and organizations

    • Brainstorm and analyze potential new features -- conduct lean experiments, data analysis, and customer research to test their potential impact

    • Source and manage strategic partnerships in coordination with the Business Development team to get the platform into the hands of new audiences and to serve new use cases

  • Special projects

    • Create written and visual materials to convey our brand and value proposition to key partners (presidential campaigns, national unions, investors, and more)

    • Own special projects for company founders and our executive team. Past projects have included post-midterm transition planning, conversion A/B testing, managing undergraduate and MBA interns, financial planning, website relaunch, and more

This position is based in our New York office near Union Square, and reports directly to our CEO.

You bring:

  • 3 - 4 years of experience working cross-functionally to solve a wide variety of strategic problems (e.g. management consulting, internal strategy)

  • A passion for Democratic and progressive politics, and a belief in organizing

  • Strong written and oral communication skills -- you are comfortable leading a conversation with any member of the team or any client, no matter how senior

  • Willingness and ability to dive into new issue areas -- we are a small team, and you’ll have the opportunity to work with nearly every member of it, from customer success to engineering

  • Strong analytics background; some SQL exposure preferred

  • Any of the following would be a big plus:

    • Expertise in any of the following: Google Analytics, AdWords, Facebook Business Manager, PostgreSQL, Amazon Redshift, Mailchimp, Intercom, Amplitude, Zapier, Periscope Data

    • Familiarity with early-stage software businesses and the challenges they face

    • An understanding of the landscape of progressive political technology, including tools like NGP VAN, Relay, ActionKit, BSD, Hustle, and ActBlue

    • Experience on a campaign or progressive advocacy organization (even as a volunteer!)

    • Proficiency in design software such as Figma, Sketch, Photoshop, or Illustrator
