The Chief Medical Officer will join as a key member to set up Kaia’s medical affairs and operate at the intersection of medical operations and business objectives in Kaia’s focus areas - chronic musculoskeletal pain and respiratory - in the US. The medical team has established clinical partnerships for several research projects with various top universities in the US and is looking for a proactive person to provide medical insight into business operations and sales conversations and to maintain and grow the network of researchers within existing and for future collaborations.

The role encompasses:

  • Leading and implementing the clinical direction for the organization
  • Leading the clinical development team and those responsible for medical affairs, and regulatory affairs to determine and communicate the therapeutic benefits and safety of Kaia’s products
  • Representing the Company and its programs to inform and influence external audiences, including the investment, medical and regulatory communities, as well as payer, employer health plans, and other stakeholders and partners
  • Partnering with colleagues to grow the business and build strategies to support the needs of members on their health journey
  • Developing and implementing a program for scientific publications and conference presentationsProvide medical and subject matter expertise in a relevant domain (psychology, orthopedics, or chronic disease) including mastery of the relevant scientific and clinical literature and regulatory environmentIdentify and establish proactive and collaborative relationships with physicians and patient advocacy groups
  • Establish, recruit and manage appropriate Medical Advisory BoardsEstablish and maintain relationships with Key Opinion Leaders
  • Supporting due diligence on licensing and business development opportunities and evaluate technical, medical and commercial merit of potential programs and assets
  • Developing a best-in-class team
  • Participating in the recruitment and training of medical talent and assurance of their credentials
  • Developing and implementing a formal medical staff development program to include governance, credentialing, peer review, quality management and outcomes, clinical integration and patient satisfaction
  • Ensuring all accreditation programs are developed and implemented, and appropriate Federal, State and Local regulatory requirements are met
  • Ensure the objectives and priorities of all team members align with the corporate strategy and drive accountability throughout the team and the company so that strategies are aligned with emerging customer and market needs
  • Ensure delivery of innovative, effective, patient-centric care
  • Derive insights from analytics to provide better care and deliver services more efficiently
  • Provide medical consultation to the physical therapy and product teams to steer effectiveness of services and platforms
  • Ensure the effective execution of services programs by the clinical teams that are provider and member facing
  • Oversee the monitoring, measurement and quality improvement of clinical care
  • Chair weekly clinician meetings and participate in other clinically related meetings such as the Credentialing Committee, Clinical Operations, and others as needed
  • Assist in determining the direction of clinic services, improving current services, and developing new services based on community needProvide guidance and expertise to manage complex cases and client relationships with plan sponsors

Your profile:

  • Board eligible or certified in area of specialty
  • MD/DO degree from an accredited college or university
  • Possession of a valid, unrestricted license to practice medicine
  • Prior administrative and managed care experience
  • Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate successfully with multiple functions
  • Must be able to successfully articulate the clinical, medical affairs, regulatory and scientific affairs strategies to a wide audience including the executive team, the Board of Directors, Company employees, and the investor community
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills; should have proven skills as an effective team player who can engender credibility and confidence within and outside the company
  • Effective leadership, people management, and a team builder management style are essential
  • Results-oriented work ethic and a positive outlook
