Chief of Staff

| Greater NYC Area

Bread transforms pricing in e-commerce: The $1,000 couch you’re looking at might become $50/month. Bread partners with merchants to offer end consumers the ability to pay over time with clear, transparent terms and fair rates. Our B2B2C model aligns our goals with our merchants’ goals, and we are a leader in organizational customer centricity and service. Add a powerful, flexible merchant API that can seamlessly integrate financing anywhere in the e-commerce experience, and you’ve got Bread.

The Chief of Staff will work closely with the founders (CEO and CTO/COO) on research, special projects, and strategy, to enable rapid growth in the business. You will interface with leaders in all aspects of the business (sales, merchant success, engineering, product, operations, legal, marketing, business development, risk, finance, and analytics) to deliver insights and understanding to help the founders in setting product strategy, raising capital, and building a scalable company and culture.

Things you’ll do:

  • Perform industry and market research to inform product direction
  • Construct presentations to Bread's Board of Directors and help prepare for board meetings
  • Prepare presentations of the company's business to debt and equity investors
  • Help plan headcount strategy and growth across the organization
  • Identify gaps in our operation we haven't thought of, and jump in to fill them yourself
  • Help drive the company's planning and budgeting process
  • Act as a project manager for key cross-functional efforts
  • Attend meetings of the company's executive leadership and help organize and prioritize the CEO's/EVP's responsibilities
  • Whatever you're called upon to do to have impact on the business

You have:

  • 2-7 years of experience
  • Ideally, an MBA or a JD from a top school
  • A strong professional background in management consulting, venture capital, or corporate strategy
  • Exceptional project management abilities - you are known for getting things done
  • A self-starting attitude: You work independently and effectively, with little oversight or management
  • A desire to work very hard in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with high-energy and mission-driven colleagues

An Insider's view of Bread

What are some social events your company does?

We love celebrating, whether it’s during our monthly happy hours, D&I events or our summer/winter holiday parties. Our team is extremely thoughtful about how we gather together to ensure everyone is excited about and included in all we do. It fosters collaboration in a more strategic yet relaxed way which helps build relationships.

Britney

Head of Employee Engagement

What projects are you most excited about?

A typical day at Bread is different depending on the engineer. While some engineers enjoy more autonomy, I enjoy collaborating on projects with other engineers and coming up with great solutions together. We strike a balance between stability and innovation through code reviews and guest lectures. I feel supported in my career growth here at Bread.

John

Software Engineer

How does the company support your career growth?

Bread encourages us to empower ourselves from the very start of our careers by offering every employee a stipend to seek educational resources and support. If you envision a role we don’t currently offer, or aspire to transition internally, we aim to give you the tools needed to meet your goal.

Gaby

Recruiting Coordinator

How do you collaborate with other teams in the company?

One of the great things about working at Bread is the cross-functional collaboration with other teams. As an integrations engineer, I have not only learned how to intentionally build a product in a thoughtful manner from the Engineering and Product teams, but also how to be effective in a client facing role from our Sales and Success teams.

Wei

Integrations Engineer
