We’re looking for someone who will work directly with Lily Shen, CEO (and the rest of the Executive Team) to help drive Transfix through its next stage of growth. This critical role will help the Executive Team prioritize, communicate, and make efficient decisions on a wide range of strategic issues. The role will be a balance between strategy, project and process management, execution, and will essentially be responsible for enabling the CEO to be as effective as possible in whatever capacity makes sense. 

The ideal applicant is a generalist who loves learning, is highly analytical and process-oriented, has strong management and presentation skills and demonstrates the following characteristics: results-driven, quick thinking, curious, high emotional intelligence, low ego, passion for technology and impact and strength of conviction to hold others accountable. The Chief of Staff must be comfortable in a highly visible role across all functions of the organization. We are looking for someone who is excited about the opportunity to grow within the role and within our organization over time. The CEO is looking for someone who wants to be a strategic partner for the long-haul. Accordingly, you will be given as much responsibility as you can handle and have incredible exposure to thinking about how to grow and expand a business and organization. You also need to excel at, and find joy in, creating order out of chaos, especially with constantly changing priorities. You should be able to create the systems needed to run the day-to-day more efficiently and should be able to create the space, over time, to focus on more strategic, special projects.

What you'll do:

“CEO Team” Leadership

  • You’ll be responsible for the day to day workflow of the “CEO team”, which includes yourself, the CEO, and the Executive Assistant to the CEO. You will be an escalation point and day to day manager of the EA, helping them prioritizing inbound requests and to resolve conflicts.
  • Assist the CEO to strategically align time with key priorities, milestones, deadlines, and decisions.
  • Work with the CEO and Transfix’s PR & Communications team to prioritize inbound speaking and interview requests for the CEO.
  • Prepare presentations for internal and external audiences, helping to prepare speakers from across the company. Using your storytelling skills - able to engage all teams and help drive internal meeting content for company-wide events and ‘all hands’ meetings.

Board & Investor Coordination

  • Project manage Board meeting prep and creation of Board meeting materials.
  • Partner with CEO and other key executives to maintain communications and relationships with key investors, Board Members, and Board Advisors.

Executive Team Facilitation

  • Drive best practice communication and coordination between the CEO and execs as well as other key leaders across Transfix, enabling effective collaboration across the organization.
  • Provide decision support through research, analysis of information, and clear presentation of considerations.
  • Successfully complete critical aspects of deliverables with a hands-on approach, including drafting correspondence, and other tasks that facilitate the team's ability to effectively execute on top priorities.
  • Manage the creation/coordination of key presentations to/from the Executive Team and/or Board of Directors.

Project Management & Insights

  • As a force multiplier of the CEO, you will provide thought leadership and help drive a variety of strategic projects within functions and spanning various parts of Transfix, including Product, Finance, Corporate Development, and more.
  • Lead strategic initiatives that will help drive business growth and operational improvements, working with key executives. Help identify and analyze opportunistic corporate and business development opportunities.
  • Improve and streamline communication across the organization

You Are:

  • MBA strongly preferred
  • At least 8-10 years of work experience; 4+ years of experience working directly with an experienced Executive Team
  • Startup experience, Consulting (e.g., McKinsey), Big Tech (e.g., Google, Facebook, Amazon), Corporate Development and/or Investment banking at a top company strongly preferred
  • Adept project manager, a critical thinker with excellent commercial judgment, and an impressive written and verbal communicator with robust organizational and analytical skills, including expertise with financial modeling.
  • Strategic thinker, data-driven and analytical in approach to solving problems; strong financial fundamentals
  • Able to comfortably dive into any area of the business or product, understand business needs and facilitate executive decisions based on changing priorities
  • A connector of information, processes, people and products, and you are constantly thinking about ways to improve business outcomes, productivity, collaboration and engagement
  • Strong cross-functional leader and influencer, able to drive/inspire change and key results
  • Tech and web-savvy with the ability to learn new concepts quickly
  • High level of integrity and management of confidential information

Location

Transfix's NYC HQ is steps from the Oculus and Fulton Center, with access to subway train lines. We are close to tons of restaurants, shops. We are on the top floor so have wonderful light and breathtaking views, including a spectacular view of One World Trade from our outdoor rooftop deck!
