Corporate Reporting - Associate

About the Role
This role will involve accounting and reporting responsibilities, focusing on Sarbanes-Oxley controls documentation (process narratives and controls matrices), month end close duties, financial reporting (monthly, quarterly, annual), accounting policy creation and analysis, consolidations and eliminations, international accounting, and other financial reports, as well as ad hoc projects. The Associate, Corporate Reporting position will a member of the Corporate Finance team and will report to the Head of Corporate Reporting.
Responsibilities
- Sarbanes-Oxley Controls Documentation
- Assistance in creation of controls process narratives for key company processes
- Assistance in creation of controls matrices for key company processes (including key and non-key controls)
- Demonstration and collaboration across the organization with multiple departments to implement and document controls processes
- Ongoing monitoring of compliance with controls; documentation of support controls compliance for internal and external audit purposes
- Month End Close
- Preparing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations and monthly cash reconciliations
- Assisting with the maintenance of all records and accounting files
- Maintenance of financial reporting schedules
- Calculating revenue and trails associated with specified client groups and revenue sources
- Preparation of various amortization and depreciation entries, among others
- Financial Reporting
- Responsibility for preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in accordance with GAAP, FINRA, or SEC regulations as applicable
- Preparation of monthly variance analytics and explanations for balance sheet and income statement accounts
- Preparation and review of notes to financial statements (annual)
- Assist in the preparation of consolidation and elimination entries
- Assist with the annual consolidated audit with big four audit firm
- Assist the Head of Corporate Reporting with writing technical memorandums on various complex accounting issues
- Maintain supporting schedules for the annual audit
- International Accounting
- Assisting with the books and records of international entities for internal reporting and analysis as well as integration with the consolidated company books and records
- Operational accounting and procedures related to international entities
- Maintenance of transfer pricing agreements and associated accounting, including reconciliations of transfer pricing agreements to invoices
- Assist with other international expansion projects or matters as appropriate
- Tax
- Coordination with 3rd party service providers on tax related projects and issues
- Review of tax items on an annual or quarterly basis
- Assist in the dissemination of tax related forms and items
- Other Ad-Hoc Projects
- Ability to take on new, challenging assignments on a spontaneous basis
- Coordination across multiple departments to complete assignments that require collaboration, including providing financial data for any forms or filings needed to be completed organization-wide
- Demonstration of ability to adapt to turning around items quickly that come up on a sporadic basis for GAAP or management
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of corporate accounting/audit experience within the financial services industry (Big 4 public firm, mid-size public firm, or private industry)
- Understanding of GAAP and SEC reporting
- Experience with consolidation of financial statements
- Familiarity with NetSuite preferred but not required
- Familiarity with feeder fund structure
- Fund accounting experience preferred but not required
- Degree in accounting required
- CPA license (achieved or actively pursuing) preferred but not required
- Proficient with Excel and Power Point
- Ability to manage large sets of data and be able to implement checks and balances
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Detailed oriented with big picture capability
