About the role

This new role would report into the GM of Fantasy. This role will allow the successful candidate to spend a material portion of their time assessing what the next strategic bets the Fantasy business should take, and then helping to operationalize projects that we decided to proceed with. We have specific targets set to grow non-domestic Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) revenues, and there are a number of identified possible projects to do this, and likely more as-yet identified. This role would be structured to allow the person to focus their time on “high importance, low urgency” opportunities for the DFS P&L. The successful candidate would be expected to remain aware of the day-to-day running of the business, but to focus the majority of their energy on innovative future opportunities to deliver more customers and/or revenues. This role would work alongside our Operations function, our Commercial & Strategy function, and our Analytics function.

Responsibilities

  • The critical part of this role is the ability to identify, assess, recommend and ultimately prioritize opportunities to grow our revenues beyond our existing streams (primarily domestic DFS).
  • It will be important to retain a strong working knowledge of our internal resources (product, marketing, operational etc.).
  • This would entail
    • Looking across FanDuel Group, Flutter PLC, and externally, to identify partners we could gain value by working with.
    • Assessing adjacent industries, and recommending whether we should enter them.
    • Working with relevant partners to gather key product information and KPIs.
    • Taking this data and translating it into a business case, with multiple scenarios. Any business case would contain both soft and hard outputs, such as projections, risks, limitations, possible upsides, cost considerations etc.
  • Additional ownership areas will include
    • End-to-end commercial evaluation of our existing and proposed external partnerships.
    • The relationship with our Sponsorships team, which is a material revenue line for us.
    • Undertaking deep dives of our OpEx, to ensure that the money we spend is delivering a suitable return for the business. This would involve identification of savings opportunities, and then pushing through on the delivery of these, alongside the DFS Operations team.
    • Assisting with external contract negotiations.
  • Operating as part of the DFS leadership team, offering support to peers to drive overall business performance.

Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years working in the gaming/gambling industry, or a relevant adjacency.
  • The ability to take broad direction, and spend time translating that into well-researched, actionable output. A successful candidate will have the ability to work autonomously, and to use initiative developed while working in previous similar roles.
  • Hands-on experience in delivering robust business cases, which draw on a mix of hard data and sensible assumptions.
  • Strong numerical proficiency and analytical capability.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. This role requires the ability to work effectively with 3rd parties, and FanDuel Group sister companies.
  • Prior knowledge of DFS, or the ability to quickly develop a deep understanding of the business will be critical.
  • Ability to input and align with the priorities of both the DFS business and the wider FanDuel `Group business.

Other

  • Some travel required, as this role will involve working with 3rd Estimate ~10% of time

What you get in return:

Beyond working with such a great team!

  • An exciting environment with real growth
  • Contribute to exciting products used by a highly passionate user base
  • Personal learning and development opportunities
  • 401K with company contribution match
  • Generous healthcare & value creation share plan

There's more, but we don't want to go on and on!

FanDuel is an equal opportunities employer. Diversity and inclusion in FanDuel means that we respect and value everyone as individuals. We don't tolerate bias, judgment or harassment. Our focus is on developing employees so that they reach their full potential
