Stack Overflow is seeking a Manager to lead and execute on the development of our (primarily virtual) events strategy. This individual will manage all aspects of Stack Overflow’s webinar program, our presence at online and in-person conferences, and own events for clients and prospects. The goal of the Stack Overflow’s events and experiences program is to generate demand for our Stack Overflow for Teams and Reach & Relevance products. The ideal candidate has a robust event management background, an entrepreneurial mindset, and experience working with sales teams.
This individual is obsessed with tracking the ROI on their events and experiences, and generating pipeline and revenue for our paid products.
What you’ll do:
- Develop a strategy to generate revenue and create lead flow by curating events and experiences and sponsoring conferences.
- Partner with the Product Marketing, Communications, Content and Sales teams to produce experiences that resonate with our prospects and clients across both of our lines-of-business.
- Manage the operational and logistical aspects of events including budget management, data analysis, vendor management.
- Work with internal stakeholders (execs, Design, Sales, etc.) to refine conference / event workflows within our two lines-of-business.
What you need to have:
- 8+ years of work experience working in-house at a company on virtual events or conferences, with experience in the technology sector preferred.
- Experience setting an events strategy for a company, team, department or product, and a proven ability to set mechanisms for tracking and measuring ROI.
- Robust event and project management skills including knowledge of event logistics (including but not limited to conference sponsorships, virtual events, live events, and internal events).
- Strong interpersonal skills as well as superior written and oral communication skills. Experience working with a large sales team is very desirable.
- Strong interest in leading commercial negotiations and driving financial performance.
- An incredible attention to detail.
- Empathy for, and understanding of, developers (how they think, work, learn, communicate, and purchase software).
- Familiarity with developer and technology conferences all over the world as well as cutting-edge content marketing practices.
- Experience working closely with international offices and colleagues
