ABOUT THE ROLE

The General Manager of Retail, Brand Experience is responsible for driving operational innovation and excellence for new projects led by the Brand Experience team at the individual store level. The function of the role sits at this intersection of the operational needs associated with the merchandising + creative services departments and the retail store and manages the operational processes to bring the store experience to life.  In this role you will establish and implement streamlined operational procedures to create a holistic store experience that is centered around building and inspiring the store culture to support employee retention, a fantastic customer experience and ultimately sales. 

You will have accountability for the store’s P/L and will develop and execute new processes, systems, and reporting to ensure we deliver a memorable experience to our customers.  You’ll also be part of a cross-functional team of expert colleagues working in new ways—more agile, more adaptive, and more human—so throw the old playbook away. In the end, it’s all about leveraging existing know how and using it to figure out new ways to accomplish things quickly. This role reports to the Sr. Director of Operations, Brand Experience.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

General responsibilities include regular communication with stakeholders regarding state of the business, strategizing and executing new and innovative solutions for continued operational success and managing operating practices for the safe, efficient and effective management of all aspects of the store.  Specifics include, but are not limited to:

  • P&L Ownership – Manage sales and expense plans to ensure year over year growth in the store 
  • Human Resources – Responsible for all HR administrative functions including hiring a cross functional team across sales, operations and visuals and maintain and further develop the company culture that supports a test and learn approach
  • Training – Ensure product knowledge and customer experience training is at the forefront of all customer-facing touchpoints
  • Operations + Logistics – Develop and manage policies and standard operating procedures to deliver operational strategy and excellence
  • Regular, dependable attendance & punctuality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

THINGS YOU’LL NEED

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 10+ years of experience working in roles of increasing responsibility in retail operations/retail management 
  • 5-7+ years leading retail teams with direct accountability for components of a P/L or end to end P/L management
  • Experience developing talent with a demonstrated track record of helping others succeed
  • Strong written and verbal communication, both in-person and through modern tools and platforms.
  • Strong financial acumen and analytics skills.  Solid understanding of retail store management to maximize customer satisfaction and profitability. 
  • The creativity and fortitude to take calculated risks.
  • Problem solving skills - an insatiable curiosity and ability to develop creative solutions to complex business issues.
  • Ability to make sound decisions using equal parts intuition and data.
  • Desire to stay up to date on the latest trends and technology supporting the retail industry
  • Comfort blazing new paths and inviting others to follow.
  • Limited travel to support other stores, new store openings, etc. 
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on company needs.
