POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking an exceptional Head of Operations who is passionate about animals and believes pets are an important member of a family. The Head of Operations will lead high performing teams while owning operations end to end for this disruptive startup.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Define and build efficient operations for Pumpkin enabling scale across multiple geographies. Seek opportunities to improve systems and processes, and implement effective solutions
  • Ensure a seamless after sales experience from onboarding to claims processing and fulfilment
  • Support the CEO and Board of Directors in anticipating and financing capital requirements
  • Develop and track performance measures (KPIs) that support NewCo’s strategic direction, effective internal operations, enable partnerships
  • Evaluate and monitor customer and vendor proposals, contracts, pricing and policies
  • Manage all vendor relationships including Accounting, HR, Legal, Insurance, Underwriter, IT, Facilities
  • Oversee internal systems such as CRM, HR portals, secure file storage, and internal communication tools (such as Slack)
  • Working with the CEO and legal resources, drive ongoing audit of company due diligence, risk management, and legal engagements
  • Lead the internal communication strategy and management of regular team communications, all-hands, and senior leadership meetings
  • Work with CEO to drive communication with Parent Company stakeholders to ensure regular check-ins and reporting according to agreed engagement plans
  • Increase the effectiveness of coordination and communication between functional teams
  • Support the CEO with board meeting preparation, including preparation of meeting, agendas, scheduling, slide decks, financial and operational reports, and other materials as needed
  • Provide leadership and hands-on support for HR operations including recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management

DESIRED EXPERTISE AND EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 5+ years of relevant professional work experience in operations, project management, or consulting
  • Experience working in a regulated industry, preferably in the insurance space
  • Ability to design, implement, and document new processes and policies
  • Strong supervisory and performance management skills; start-up work experience highly preferred
  • Entrepreneurial in spirit; must have demonstrated the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment
  • Experience in building departmental infrastructure
  • Excellent analytical and reporting skills; ability to capture, analyze, and report on operating metrics
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A self-starter, a strong individual contributor and a team player
