Become the main point of consultation for one or several account teams regarding any client‑specific information related to product contents and language quality. Create, organize and maintain language assets on a regular basis in order to guarantee that client‑specific linguistic requirements and preferences are applied to all projects. 

Main Duties

  • Compiles as much knowledge about the client as possible, through internal training as well as by studying the client’s website and investigating:
  • The products they have in the market
  • The departments that Welocalize LS works with and the contact persons
  • The client’s linguistic needs (services and languages required, document types, etc.)
  • The relationship the client has had until now with Welocalize LS (e.g. Is it a consolidated client? Are they trying our services before they decide if they want to work with us in the long-term?)
  • The client’s degree of satisfaction with Welocalize LS services (e.g. past quality issues and other problems)
  • Manages the client language assets:
  • Studies available assets for the client – glossaries, style guides, translation memories, formal linguistic instructions or relevant comments sent by the client, etc.
  • Assesses quality and relevancy of the assets and decides how to proceed if any shortcoming is detected
  • Creates any necessary assets based on shortcomings detected in the step above, client feedback/issues, new document types, etc.
  • Updates language assets when client feedback is received
  • Works with the Language Engineering department to optimize the integration of these assets in the computer-assisted translation tools used at Welocalize LS.
  • Carries out pre-production tasks: when a new request is received from the client, analyses source files and creates instructions in order to establish the best way to proceed and anticipate any potential issues; and creates clear guidelines and instructions for the linguists that will participate in the project.
  • Works with the CSR/CTSA and PM to ensure that any relevant linguistic information that the client sends (by phone, e-mail, etc.) is shared.
  • Knows the team of linguists and is able to recommend the best translators for each project to the PM.
  • Works with Talent Management to define the requirements for the new translators that are recruited to work with this client and select appropriate documents for translation tests.
  • Performs Quality Assurance tasks of the translations before delivery to the client in order to check the final product and ensure it is adjusted to client requirements.
  • Is actively involved in the client quality issue management and client review process to ensure that all the information is channelled to the linguists that participated in the project.
  • Arranges knowledge transfer to other SMEs when the situation requires so.
  • Knows Welocalize LS’s values (quality, customer service, teamwork, smart use of technology) and applies them to his/her daily work.
  • Is proactive, solutions oriented and client quality focused

Requirements

  • · Essential:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Translation, English, German, etc.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in one of the team’s subject matter areas
  • · Desirable:
  • Master’s Degree in Translation, specialising in the team’s subject matter area
  • Master’s Degree in Translation Technologies
  • · Essential:
  • Training on the company’s text quality processes
  • Training in translation tools: assisted translation, machine translation, terminology, document management
  • · Desirable:
  • Training in Terminology
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of assisted translation tools: XTM, MemoQ, Memsource, SDL Trados, etc.
  • Knowledge of QA tools (ApSIC XBench) and terminology extraction
  • Command of the information resources available on the market for the subject matter area
  • Command of basic tools such as: internet search engines, email programmes, etc.
  • Attention to detail to easily spot errors
  • Ability to assess the difficulty of a text and anticipate associated potential issues
  • Ability to analyse documentation and synthetize its content
