POSITION DESCRIPTION

As an internal facing Director, IT you are responsible for owning the outcomes for all IT operations, systems, and your team's success
Developing and implementing strategy that helps a globally distributed fast-growing team navigate the competing needs to move quickly and flexibly while also keeping security top of mind.

You must be able to thrive in a fast-paced design culture and enjoy holding responsibilities solving challenging problems. Your ability to work in a hybrid cloud, and mixed networking environment will make you an ideal candidate.

We're highly collaborative and agile and we are also both on-site at headquarters, and offsite for various lengths of time. We are looking for driven people with exceptional abilities who communicate and align team members effectively.  In this role you will wear multiple hats spanning a broad array of technical and non-technical disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Hire, develop, and performance manage a small but growing team of experienced IT professionals
  • Project manage all departmental objectives to completion, including but not limited to, Identity Management, Asset Management, IT Onboarding and Offboarding, and IT Facilities
  • Develop, manage, and track the IT department's annual budget while controlling budget and reporting on expenditure
  • Assist in building enduring relationships with customers, both internal teams and external vendors
  • Consult senior-level stakeholders across the entire organization to identify business and technology needs and to optimize the use of current and future information technology systems
  • Develop standards and operational procedures that support current and future operational needs
  • Develop and implement departmental metrics and statistics in line with company level goals
  • Provide coverage and assistance for StrongArm teams located in Brooklyn and around the world
  • Provide occasional field service support to our internal teams for hardware and software systems
  • Communicate technical concepts to members of StrongArm effectively (strong verbal and listening skills)
  • Reproduce environments and solve challenging technical problems
  • Monitor environments to maintain SLAs
  • Developing scripts to automate common problems
  • Operate Cloud and Data environments (Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud)
  • Perform root cause analysis and look for greater trends of problems and issue
  • Take on the responsibility and own the problem to resolution, wherever that challenge may be.
  • Effective communication across departments to be solution oriented 
  • Identify pain points to improve the product and champion solutions that permanently solve issues
  • Proactive problem solving in areas that need definition

Qualifications

  • Completed BS in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering related degree or equivalent work experience
  • Have significant experience working in an IT Leadership role at a scaling, cloud-based company
  • Have substantial people management experience, and consider yourself a people manager first
  • Enjoy a fast-paced, globally distributed, and changing environment that enables you to juggle many types of projects at once
  • Lead yourself to managing cross-functional teams to deliver on key processes for a growing startup
  • Able to get things done in complex and collaborative environments - we're seeking someone with a project management, prioritization, and operational excellence history.
  • Have deep knowledge of allied teams and function and how to partner effectively with them (e.g., People (HR), Engineering, Security, etc.)
  • Experienced with relevant tools and systems such as G Suite, JAMF, JIRA, PingIdentity, etc.
  • Possess interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with teams across the entire organization in order to delight, influence, and complete deliverables
  • Strong written and verbal and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical portions of the business
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Apply systems thinking with connected devices and the network(s) that support them
  • Understand web architecture
  • Software integrations, package management for deployment
  • Knowledge of SQL, and basic knowledge of databases
  • Implement test and integration environments
  • Write technical documentation
  • Write and maintain automation scripts
  • Ability to work in Linux command line
  • Basic IPv4 networking, firewalls, Wifi, SSL certificate, and web proxy configurations

Bonus Skills

  • DevOps experience is a benefit
  • Experience with micro-controllers + development platforms using IoT firmware
  • Experience with Git version control in a production environment
  • Fluent in at least one scripting language
  • Experience with ITIL

  • Brooklyn HQ office seat available
