The Role:

The Financial Systems Administrator will be responsible for crafting, implementing, and maintaining the functionality, integrations, and automation of information systems supporting Newsela’s Finance team. You will be responsible for understanding how Newsela’s financial systems interact, developing and executing a suitable support plan, and keeping up to date on new system versions and features to ensure that the Finance team has the most appropriate solutions. You’ll serve as the primary point person to support our Finance and Accounting stakeholders, and will document current processes and controls, new system requirements and the creation of applicable testing scenarios for enhancements and system updates. You’ll conduct financial systems and process analysis and look for opportunities and recommend solutions for more automation, tighter controls, and enriched business information. Additionally, you’ll support and enhance ongoing SOX controls and provide periodic evidence of those controls. You will also partner with IT, other internal stakeholders, and third-party vendors to define, build, and implement integrations utilizing a variety of technology tools. You will work directly with vendors to resolve software bugs and identify solutions for data and configuration issues.

Why You’ll Love This Role:

You will have an opportunity to make a real impact by driving process improvement and system implementation efforts to streamline operations and enhance our Finance team’s internal controls. Reporting to our Director of Engineering Operations, you’ll work closely with our Finance team and have the opportunity to partner with leaders across the company. Your work will help enable quality reporting and financial operations that support the growth of our business. Your work will ultimately help ensure the sound and rapid operational scale of our business, enabling the expansion of Newsela’s reach and bringing engaging, culturally responsive learning content into the hands of K-12 students and teachers nationwide.

Why We’ll Love You:

You have 5+ years' experience configuring third-party applications, working with software vendors, resolving production support issues, designing technical solutions, and providing overall technical support for complex financial software. You also have 2+ years of experience with financial systems in an FP&A setting. You have a strong understanding of data mining, systems setup, and management reporting, and are experienced using or maintaining financial systems such as Netsuite, Bill.com, Tallie, and Workato. On top of your technical skills, you are detail-oriented, able to prioritize multiple tasks under tight deadlines, and able to work in an efficient and organized manner. You’re continuously improving the delivery system across agile, hybrid and waterfall teams, while exemplifying strong consulting skills to adapt to changing needs in a team-oriented service environment.
