Block Renovation Operations Engineering Associate

Block democratizes access to high-end design, while combining design, construction, and materials into a streamlined experience. ROLE

The Operations Engineering role is critical for developing the tools and processes that will fuel our growth. You will help build the technology and operations that the entire business runs on, from sales through project completion. You are a systems-thinker by nature and solutions oriented, constantly finding scalable ways to improve processes, increase efficiency, save money and improve the quality of outcomes. You measure your success by the success of the other teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Gather input from teams on pain points and inefficiencies in our operation
  • Roadmap areas for improvement
  • Evaluate developed vs purchased solutions 
  • Plan, build and test solutions for increased efficiency across all functions
  • Facilitate transitions of teams to new tools
  • Educate, support and train teams, new hires, and external partners
  • Cleanly track effects of new initiatives 
  • Work closely with the product and engineering teams to implement joint solutions

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Tenacity for solving problems / getting things done

  • Curious - always looking to learn the next thing and develop the next skill to enhance workflow
  • Self-starter - seeks out challenges, looks to be ahead instead of on time
  • Creative - able to look at problems from a different perspective to find solutions
  • Able to build for long term, but also able to find efficient short-term solutions
  • Strong communication and relationship development skills, both internally and externally
  • 1-5 years of technical or start-up work experience
  • Comfortable working with Google Sheets or equivalent
  • Experience with programming is a plus
  • Familiarity with residential renovations
  • Highly ambitious and goal-oriented
