About us:

CommonBond is the award-winning finance company where people come first. Our approach is no big secret: lower rates, simpler options, and a world-class experience to support you throughout your student loan journey. Plus, every time we fund a degree we also pay for a child’s education in the developing world through our Social Promise. Since our launch in 2012, we’ve funded over $2 billion in student loans and we’ve helped our members save over $500 million.

About the role:

The Partnership Success Manager will play a critical role in driving borrower growth by both activating partnerships that are brought on by the Partnerships team as well as fostering relationships with our partners’ members through events, presentations, and networking.

In terms of your background, you may come from several different places. You may have a background in B2B sales, account management, or community marketing.  You will thrive in a role where you can identify opportunity for expanding partnerships and go after it with a thoughtful and relentless approach. You love connecting with people and growing relationships, are an exceptional communicator, extremely detail oriented, and have a relentless, roll-up-your-sleeves attitude.

You’ve proven yourself to be the upmost overachiever, in all likelihood, amongst companies/schools full of ambitious overachievers. This is critical as activating and managing partnerships will not be easy, but you will be expected to find a way to drive quality results faster than your peer set. You know how to deliver: you are conscientious about doing what you say you will do and are committed to doing your part to help us all meet our collective goals.

You have a history of success because you simply find a way to make things happen. You have a bias for immediate action and an uncanny instinct for channeling it effectively. Tomorrow is too late; yesterday is always on time. You’re good at what you do, and you know it because the results are on your side. But you’re also humble, and you’re looking to focus your talents on something you believe in.

CommonBond is a fast-paced, exciting environment where new opportunities emerge every day.  The Partnership Success Manager will be an early hire on a growing team at an innovative company that is on the cusp of scale, and you will be a core reason the company scales.

Functions:

As a member of the Partnerships team, you will be responsible for the activation and account management of key partners. This goes beyond “relationship management”…you will be an activator of partnerships once we have signed up new partners. Activation can include (but will not be limited to) organizing events at partner offices, delivering presentations to partnership constituents, identifying creative ways to reach the partners’ potential borrower base, and educating potential borrowers on their student loan options. We apply a thoughtful approach to determine who the right partners are that will have significant reach in our target market, and we are looking to the Partnership Success Manager to nurture and grow these relationships.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Working with the Partnerships team to manage the activation process of new partnerships from planning through execution
  • Scheduling, planning, and hosting events for the community members of various partners
  • Identify means of reaching Partner organizations’ audience to increase awareness of CommonBond. Ability to blend traditional marketing tactics with the creative
  • Visiting our partners around New York City as well as around the country; travel outside the NYC could be around 20% (this is under normal operating circumstances – we are not currently not performing any business travel until further notice)

Desired Qualifications

  • Exceptional communication skills – you’re equally comfortable hopping on the phone with a partner, meeting them in person, or presenting to a group of potential borrowers. You are confident, well-spoken, outgoing, and professional
  • Social – you love meeting people, forming relationships, and attending events
  • Proactive – you don’t wait for people to come to you, you identify opportunities as well as issues and proactively go after / solve them
  • Project management – you are extremely organized and hold yourself and those around you accountable for meeting deadlines and delivering
  • Fast learner – you are excited to learn the ins and outs of the business and industry, educate potential borrowers, and answer any questions that come your way
  • Roll-up-your-sleeves mentality – we’re a small team, everyone including our executive team gets their hands dirty to get stuff done
  • Expert multi-tasking – you’ll be managing multiple accounts, planning events, and sending communications every hour of every day. You will remain undaunted, organized and juggle these tasks without letting the ball drop. You will know how to ruthlessly prioritize your time
  • Professional but not stuffy – we’re sharp and competent but also fun
  • Team player – you want to be relied upon and you understand how others make your goals achievable
  • Sense of urgency – you want to “go, move, make things happen, and shake things up!”
  • Nimble – able to handle changing tasks and priorities and adapt quickly
  • Supreme ability to organize yourself and your tasks, and manage your time
  • 1-4 years of experience (startup experience a plus) in sales, account management, or community marketing
  • Bachelor’s degree and an objectively strong academic record

You can work in our New York City HQ; or remotely from anywhere in the US (EST working hours). Due to the on-going pandemic of COVID-19, if you choose to work from our NYC HQ, it is likely that you’ll start working remotely.

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
