The Role
LeafLink is seeking a Procurement Manager to join the Logistics team, one of the newest departments within the company. As a Procurement Manager on the Logistics team, you will be responsible for both the procurement strategy and ongoing analysis of physical assets required to enable our logistics operations. You are capable of diving into a complex business operation with a footprint in multiple markets. You will be expected to execute research, manage contract negotiations, and forecast needs and supply across a range of categories including but not limited to totes, scanners, labels, vehicles, warehouse equipment and more. You do not hesitate to roll up your sleeves to investigate data and source of truth, as needed. You can successfully interpret incoming asks to determine feasibility, develop plans for solutioning, identify which are most critical to the goals of the team and business, and effectively communicate these back to stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Build relationships with current vendors and identify vendor partners for a 2-4 year horizon.
- Partnering with stakeholders and team leads to develop a deep understanding of the business in order to create both a short-term and long-term asset procurement strategy.
- Conduct business review meetings with key stakeholders to assess risk, review future strategies, and identify cost down and improvement opportunities.
- Establish a framework for grading existing vendor relationships while seeking additional vendors.
- Conduct cost analyses and set benchmarks for improvement
- Work with cross functional stakeholders to establish the necessary infrastructure for asset visibility and throughput in all markets and for all product types.
- Perform analysis as needed to identify opportunities and suggest solutions based on findings.
- Clearly communicate your findings to a range of stakeholders to inform and educate them.
- Developing risk management procedures to mitigate losses in the event of product shortages
Qualifications
- 2-3 years experience working as a buying manager of physical assets and working in supply chain operations.
- 3-5 years experience working as a procurement manager and developing purchasing strategies
- Strong negotiation skills
- High level of proficiency with Excel/Google Sheets. Experience leveraging SQL is a plus.
- Working knowledge of the cannabis industry a plus
- Degree in supply chain, engineering, science, statistics, economics, finance, or related technical field.
- Ability to write and present concise and structured stories through PowerPoint/Google Slides
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced growth business with many collaborators.
- Ability to travel to meet with suppliers as needed
