Flatiron Health is a healthcare technology and services company focused on accelerating cancer research and improving patient care. Our platform enables cancer researchers and care providers to learn from the experience of every patient. The Provider Customer Support team works to build a positive customer experience for our users and supports their use of Flatiron’s products. This suite of web-based, oncology-focused practice software is used by over 1,600 oncology clinicians every day to diagnose, treat, and manage patients battling cancer. The Customer Support team triages, resolves, trains on, and documents issues in order to help our Provider clients use our products effectively and maximize their value.

Our Office Ops team is the heart of operations at Flatiron Health. We work behind the scenes to keep Flatiron running smoothly and help teams thrive by prioritizing and anticipating their needs. This job requires superior organizational and communication skills. We are looking for someone who is extremely customer service oriented, proactive and can communicate clearly and effectively. The ideal candidate has a strong work ethic and a thirst to learn in a fast paced environment.

Responsibilities:

Greet clients and visitors
Serving as a host & helping guests in finding their way around the office
Notifying employees when their guest arrives
Helping maintain workplace security by managing our visitor log, issuing, checking and collecting badges as necessary
Answering the General Inquiries/Front Desk phone & redirecting messages
Managing our Lost and Found center
Assisting with planning and executing company wide events
Filling shipping requests & tracking important packages
Booking offsite meeting space
Calendar room management

About you:

Bachelor’s degree
1-3 years of professional experience
Superior organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent writing and communication skills
Ability to think on your feet, change or adapt to any ambiguous situation and make on-the-spot decisions without sacrificing attention to detail
Experience with Slack & Google Suite preferred
Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments
Ability to maintain composure and sense of humor in high-pressure situations
Mature, logical, strategic, polished, nuanced, quick-learner
Passionate about our mission and the opportunity to work in a fast paced startup environment

By strategically innovating tools side by side with Flatiron’s existing technology, VP of Software Engineering Allison Candido and her team are reimagining the way technology can be utilized in their users — and by extension, their patients — daily lives. Candido and her team’s work mainly focuses on a mature product, OncoEMR, but they take innovative leaps when they make sense, as seen in the company’s Flatiron Assist product. “We may not be building the most cutting-edge technology, but we are innovating the way our users do their work and treat their patients,” Candido said.

I fundamentally believe in the mission of Flatiron and what we are trying to accomplish with our software — and we still have a lot of work to do to continue transforming oncology care.

A Winning Combination: Human Wisdom and Tech

In machine learning, the phrase “human in the loop” describes iterative models that require a human touch. VP of Data Insights Engineering Will Shapiro puts a health tech twist on the expression. “We’ve been thoughtful about how to put ‘experts in the loop’ — oncologists, epidemiologists, biostatisticians,” Shapiro said. With this expertise, Shapiro is confident Flatiron is poised to empower clinical decision-making. “Flatiron has incredibly rich data across broad segments of the population that can be critical in helping design trials that are more inclusive,” he said.

Ultimately, I think this work has the potential to make sure that the future of medicine is personalized for everyone, not just the targets of traditional trials.

Leveraging the Achilles Heel

What has growth looked like for VP of Product Management Kate Estep? Recognizing her greatest asset and Achilles heel: empathy. Working in a B2B environment, Estep and her colleagues must make prioritization decisions — which impact oncology nurses, physicians, patients and more. Estep internalizes the impact of “saying no” for the physician and patient on the other end of that decision but has learned to leverage the power of compassion. “I empathize with the impact of those user decisions, and have cultivated that empathy into a powerful trust-building tool,” Estep said.

Growth looks like expanding your breadth of influence — we connect strong PMs with projects that increase their impact. This enables PMs to build foundational product leadership skills that prepare them for roles at the next level.
