What you'll do

  • Leveraging Affirm’s innovative and fast paced culture, you will build and lead the Internal Controls function
  • You will build and inspire an inclusive, diverse, collaborative team
  • Understand the business objectives, strategy and culture to partner effectively with cross functional leaders including engineering, product, legal, compliance
  • Develop and articulate a vision and strategy for the internal controls function
  • Work closely with IT/Information Security in order to ensure ITGC compliance across key business and financial systems
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key business partners across the company in order to assess accurately the risk areas within each significant process
  • Work with business process owners to ensure timely review and updates to the control documentation and conducting and documenting walkthroughs of various business processes 
  • Assess risks and enhance the internal control environment
  • Own third party assurance efforts, coordinating with internal stakeholders and external auditors (SOC1, SOC2)
  • Report smart observations and impactful suggestions
  • Leverage technology and data analytics to enhance effectiveness of internal controls
  • Provide recommendations and insight for areas of improvement based on assessment of our risk areas
  • Connect and benchmark continuously with other organizations to bring best practices to the function

What we look for

  • 12+ years of experience including 7+ years in Big 4 (Senior Manager)
  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) are preferred but not required
  • Experienced in leading the internal controls team in a large, complex environment
  • Exceptional leadership, master relationship builder and high level of business acumen
  • Excellent and confident in communicating with senior level executives internally and externally.
  • Exceptional analytical thinker with strong conceptual and problem solving skills, sound independent judgment as well as meticulous attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to develop innovative internal controls strategy resulting in impactful results
  • Demonstrated successful project management and strong leadership in cross functional execution with the business
  • Highly effective in ambiguous and rapidly changing environments
  • Deep experience with information systems (e.g. ERP, big data, cybersecurity)
  • An orientation toward process and detail mindedness. Strong analytical and quantitative skills and superior accounting skills
  • The desire to improve broken processes and make your own job easier over time
  • Passion for Affirm and a strong interest in technology
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Excel, Word and GSuite

Location

 

We’re excited to announce that Affirm is now a remote-first company! This role can be located anywhere in the U.S. and Canada (with the exception of Quebec). Remote based employees may occasionally travel to an Affirm office for meetings or team building events. Our offices in San Francisco, New York City, Pittsburgh, Chicago, and Salt Lake City will remain operational and accessible for anyone to use on a voluntary basis.
