Senior Director, Operations

About the Role:
This leadership role within the FanDuel Fantasy sports team is an opportunity to shape and drive the performance of the largest vertical within FanDuel Group. This role will report directly into the GM, and be a key part in delivering on our success in 2019 and beyond. This role is not an execution role. It centres around leading the sizable teams beneath to ensure they have a clear strategy, the tools to do their jobs, and a positive environment within which to do them.
What you'll do:
- Lead, manage & develop multiple Directors and their respective teams
- Remit will include leading
- Our Product Operations Team, who ensure the smooth running of our offering for our 1m+ customers
- Our Fraud Team, who monitor and react to payment fraud, marketing fraud, and ensure that our service is fair for all customers
- Our Customer Service team, who are the face of our business
- Own relationship with Product Team, which is critical to our success. The Senior Director will be expected to deliver proposals/suggestions/improvements to our Product team, accompanied by relevant rationale
- Deliver increased process, additional automation, and develop comprehensive documentation to ensure the long-term stability of the business
- Quickly improve our processes around the personal development of every employee, and ensuring each team has a chance to regularly showcase their work
- Owning awareness of what direct and adjacent competitors are offering their customers
Who we're looking for
- Knowledge of Daily Fantasy Sports and our FanDuel product is strongly desirable. A passion for sport also very beneficial
- Operational experience in an eCommerce environment is a must, to ensure you can speak the same technical language as your colleagues
- 5+ years managing people and teams
- Commercial acumen. While not an analytics role, the successful candidate will need to ask questions of the Commercial and Analytics functions that maximize performance
- Demonstrated strengths in:
- Process implementation and attention to detail
- Setting high executional standards
- Setting a strategy and getting colleagues to buy into it
- Prioritization & multitasking
- Seeing and using our product through the eyes of a customer
- Ability to make quick decisions that balance the risk & reward to the company
- Prior experience in working with and gaining the trust of senior management
- Being capable of owning outcomes and using initiative to deliver them
- Detecting and actioning risks that may arise or be pre-existing
- Hiring, attracting and developing talent
- Working with 3rd parties, and international teams
Other
- Some travel required, as employees in multiple locations. Estimate ~10% of your time
- As this is a role leading an Operations function, some out-of-hours work may arise (guideline 5-10% of time), but a task for the Senior Director is to implement structures that minimize this, by giving colleagues decision frameworks and autonomy
