At Alma, we’re making it easier for people to access high quality, affordable mental health care by supporting providers in building thriving private practices. We believe that when therapists have better resources, they’re able to provide better care to their clients. When a provider joins Alma, they gain access to a suite of tools that not only help them better run their business, but also grow it sustainably and develop as a provider. Our product experience is designed to empower people in their search for mental health care, offering multiple pathways and individualized support, if and when someone needs it. Alma has raised funding from incredible investors like Insight Partners, Optum Ventures, Tusk Venture Partners, Primary Venture Partners, and First Round Capital, and was named one of Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies in Health in 2020.

Senior Manager, Community Engagement

At Alma, we are redefining what it means to be part of a professional therapeutic community. Alma’s Senior Manager of Community Engagement will be responsible for designing and moderating spaces that support genuine connection amongst our members and drive engagement. You will oversee our online community & community programs as well as manage a team of community managers that live and breathe our values. You empathize with members, work hard to understand their needs, and work with your team to design and iterate on programming that both meets member needs and drives business objectives. You are rigorous about how you set up programs for success and take a data-driven approach to measure the impact of your work.

The ideal candidate has moderated online communities and live programming before - ideally in a startup environment. You have incredibly high EQ, are a natural connector, and have a genuine curiosity in what makes people tick. You are data-driven and can measure the impact and success of your team’s work to be able to course correct and drive change.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop and oversee our online community and community programs that facilitate connection between members and the Alma team
  • Grow, develop and inspire our community management team
  • Design an ambitious calendar of networking events that are creative and targeted to the various needs of our members and identified business opportunities (e.g. new member engagement/churn mitigation, geo specific and local meetups)
  • Work with your team to develop local perks and referral partnerships that drive meaningful benefit to our members wherever they are
  • Spend time with our members, develop genuine relationships, and identify members of our community to build with, not for, with the ultimate goal of cultivating community leaders and committees within our community
  • Work closely with our DEI lead to make sure we foster DEI values in all that we do and build community programming together
  • Work closely with our CX team to ensure that members get the support they need in our community channels
  • Work closely with marketing and activation teams to highlight active community members and to strategically drive members onto our community platforms
  • Perform data-driven analysis on community metrics to measure the success of our programs, make recommendations and surface themes to internal stakeholders
  • Be where our members are and always have an ear to the ground on issues and trends they’re surfacing

Who you are:

  • You have a deep passion for our mission and the future of mental health
  • You have 3+ years managing people
  • You have 4+ years on a community team, building meaningful community programs
  • You have extraordinarily high EQ. You’re a gifted relationship-builder who is energized by others, eager to make connections between like-minded people, and able to quickly develop a strong rapport with both individuals and large groups
  • You have strong experiential acumen—you know how to create and produce thoughtful, engaging events that deliver against strategic objectives and are tailored for the intended audience
  • You’re highly organized, detail-oriented, with strong project management skills where you can clearly prioritize your work
  • You’re analytical and have quantitative problem-solving abilities - this means you can make your way comfortably around a google sheet and synthesize insights from the data
  • You’re a strategic thinker who can surface problems, develop recommendations, and implement solutions
  • You’re highly enthusiastic and independent - able to effectively handle ambiguous problems and challenges and drive your initiatives with minimal input

An Insider's view of Alma

What projects are you most excited about?

We're all feeling the world starting to take mental wellness more seriously but it is still a space fraught with confusion & lack of understanding. It's exciting to think about the opportunities for innovation when it comes to helping people find the perfect therapist, simplifying access & affordability in a space that has been difficult to enter.

Nick

Chief Technology Officer

How has your career grown since starting at the company?

Alma has given me the trust, autonomy, and support to lead the Growth Team while consistently challenging me to evaluate the impact of all strategic decisions on the business both in the short-term and long-term. The opportunity to learn and grow is continuous as I work alongside passionate experts.

Ashley

VP, Growth

What is your vision for the company?

Mental health care is a very intimate and highly personal experience. There's no one-size-fits-all approach to high-quality care. At Alma, our job is to support providers and champion their expertise so they can focus on meeting clients where they are and partnering with them to achieve lasting results.

Dr. Harry Ritter

Founder and CEO

How do you empower your team to be more creative?

To be creative requires time to think big and trust from your manager to be brave in making big ideas happen. If weeks are frenetic with zero time for deep thinking, inertia will get in the way of innovation every time. And when big, bold bets come to the table, I emphasize that whether we succeed or fail, our learnings will be equally valuable.

Claire

VP, Marketing
