The ideal candidate will have had experience in direct management of facilities, strategic oversight of the team’s workplace experience and vendor management. Away is looking for a Senior Manager, Facilities and Workplace Operations who will oversee every aspect of our office space -- from proactively identifying the needs of our growing team and overseeing daily office operations and maintenance -- to how we design productive and collaborative workspaces, create energizing experiences, foster community and wellness across our talented team all to deliver an inclusive environment where our employees can thrive. As a member of the People and Culture team, the ideal candidate must be a close listener and problem-solver with a strong customer-service orientation. The role reports to Away’s VP of People & Culture and is located at our headquarters in SoHo, New York City.

What you’ll do:

  • Ensure that our office space runs in a highly efficient manner on a daily basis.
  • Oversee workplace operations, including space planning, in partnership with key cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Engage with employees and managers to ensure their workplace needs are met, identify new initiatives and find creative solutions to elevate the employee experience in the physical office. 
  • Be the owner of all workplace initiatives as it relates to our Future of Work Taskforce, ensuring a smooth transition and optimization of the workplace as we move to support a hybrid model. 
  • Oversee workplace experience team who manages daily office operations including front desk operations, vendor relationships, food programming, deliveries, company events and office support.
  • Serve as the New York onsite point of contact for all workspace vendors and landlords.
  • Ensure that the workplace supports the health and safety of all employees and visitors and that all activities are in accordance with local law and code.
  • Oversee the facilities budget and seek out opportunities to reduce maintenance expenses and ensure documentation and contracts are organized and systematically reviewed.
  • Manage and maintain all maintenance contracts, including fire alarms, HVAC, etc.

Who you are:

  • You have a minimum of 8+ years experience in facilities management and/or construction with a record of results
  • You have experience delivering projects on time and within budget, and you’ve worked with contractors, vendors and architects to build out office space
  • You have working knowledge of OSHA compliance regulations and experience and maintaining building safety programs
  • Prior experience managing a team is preferred but not required
  • You ensure the employee experience is of the highest priority when approaching all workplace initiatives. 
  • You operate with a service-mindset, love creative problem solving and approach your work with an innovative approach.
  • You find no task too big nor too small and are happy to do whatever it takes to bring a vision to life
  • You are an excellent communicator in both interpersonal interactions and in written communications
  • You love to travel (but that's a given)
