Senior Manager, Publications, Medical and Scientific Writing

What You'll Do
This role is critical to enabling meaningful and impactful dissemination of Flatiron Health's world-class and innovative science.
Reporting to the Director, Publications, Medical and Scientific Writing team, and working in collaboration with author teams, the preferred candidate will write, edit and manage review, approval, documentation and submission of abstracts, posters, manuscripts and other relevant publications that support our research.
You will collaborate with research clinicians, quantitative scientists, product managers, engineers and other scientists across a range of scientific disciplines (e,g. epidemiology, biostatistics, health equity research, health services research, observational research, health economics and outcomes research, machine learning/artificial intelligence retrospective data methods and prospective clinical pragmatic trials) to translate Flatiron research findings into clear, compelling knowledge products ready for widespread dissemination.
- Independently direct and manage a diverse portfolio of scientific publications (e.g. clinical applications, methods development, retrospective data, prospective data, etc.)
- Serve as a subject matter expert for real world data / real world evidence scientific writing, publications and strategy across Flatiron Health
- Educate stakeholders to ensure high-quality scientific writing and adherence to all relevant publication and regulatory guidance and recommendations (e,g. ICMJE, GPP4, ICH E3, ICH E6, ICH E9 and GCP) and internal processes
- Lead publication pre kick-off, kick-off and update meetings
- Support and mentor team members to enhance capabilities, expand capacity and optimize processes for complex outputs in an evolving company
- Engage with internal (Regulatory Affairs, Privacy, Legal / Intellectual Property, Research Marketing and Life Science Partnerships) and external stakeholders
- Partner with the Director of Medical and Scientific Writing on key publication-related initiatives
In addition, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with Flatiron Health teams leading engagement with external life-science leaders, regulators, and academic scientists in the US and internationally, learn from real-world data experts globally, and partner with key engineering, product, and data platform teams. Who You Are
You're a goal-oriented, experienced scientific publication professional with a minimum of 5 years experience in scientific and medical writing, publication management and at least one year of writing or research experience in real world data/real world evidence or related fields.
You're excited to roll up your sleeves, sit on the floor and help navigate to workable solutions. You're a kind, passionate and collaborative problem-solver who seeks and gives candid feedback, and values the chance to make an important impact.
- You have excellent written and oral communication skills with direct experience writing content for peer-reviewed scientific publications (e.g. manuscripts, abstracts, posters etc.)
- You have a strong working knowledge of research and scientific writing standards (e.g. AMA) as well as documenting / archiving author and stakeholder reviews and approvals.
- You have experience collaborating with and leading cross-functional scientific authorship teams
- You have a solid understanding of observational data, health outcomes/health services research, and/or methodological/discovery research concepts, strengths and limitations
- You are facile with processes for documenting reviews and approvals of publications
- You are familiarity with functions that amplify scientific publications (e.g. communications team)
- You are detail focussed, resourceful and open-minded
Extra Credit
- You have an advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MHA, MPH, MS, PhD, MD)
- You have oncology experience
- You have scientific/clinical research experience
- You have experience working in a client service capacity with life science companies

Job Compensation Range
Salary Range: $148,000.00 - $222,000.00
Preferred Primary Location: NYC Headquarters
The annual pay range reflected above for this position is based on the preferred primary location of the role which is listed in the job description. Salary ranges for other locations vary from the range reflected above. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. An annual bonus and equity may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
