SOX Compliance Manager

The Yext SOX Compliance team assists management with the efficient and effective design of internal controls over financial reporting and provides assurance activities over the proper design and operation of those controls. As we continue our efforts to expand internationally and improve our finance and administrative processes, we maintain a deep commitment to a high level of integrity in our financial reporting process. The SOX compliance team is responsible for educating the workforce on process, controls and emerging issues financial reporting and auditing standards, consulting on new operational and strategic initiatives impacting financial reporting, working with management to ensure the related processes and controls are designed to be both efficient, effective, and scalable and providing assurance to the Board and external stakeholders on the proper design and operation of internal controls of financial reporting.
The SOX Manager is a hands-on consulting and assurance role that is deeply integrated into the finance and IT teams. Leading a small group of co-sourced compliance team members, the team is responsible for SOX compliance activities listed below.
Responsibilities
- Leading SOX process and entity scoping and development of test plan to address key risks of material misstatement
- Conducting walkthroughs of processes and identifying key and non-key controls
- Participating in engineering product/program design stakeholder meetings, proactively conducting process and control reviews and providing requirements for new/changed business processes
- Assist management with controls consideration and documentation in support of adoption of ASC 606
- Assist management with key service provider evaluations (SOC-1 assessments)
- Managing co-sourced staff to identify, prioritize and review walkthrough, testing and control owner certifications to ensure timely completion of deliverables
- Identifying and evaluate significance of control gaps and assisting management in action plan development
- Monitoring control deficiency remediation activities and ensuring timely completion
- Coordinating SOX walkthrough and testing approach with external auditors to ensure effective use of management resources
- Providing updates to SOX Steering Committee and preparing Audit Committee presentation material
Minimum Requirements
- Significant experience in leading internal SOX compliance efforts or as part of external, integrated audits (5+ years of experience cumulative between internal/external)
- Strong understanding of Quote to Cash and Procure to Pay business process flows and control design in a technology/software environment
- Strong understanding of common SaaS applications supporting financial business processes (Salesforce, Zuora, Netsuite, Coupa)
- Strong written and oral communication skills (used to educate management, communicate with them about process, controls, emerging audit and compliance issues, and communicate with external vendors/auditors and non-technical stakeholders)
- Intermediate understanding of ITGC and application control concepts and experience with control design and operation in an agile IT software development environment
- Previous experience with SOXHUB compliance tool (preferred by not required)
- Embraces the challenge of managing SOX compliance program in a dynamic, fast paced environment
