About the Role:

Rent the Runway is seeking a Studio Operations Manager to join our Creative Team. The ideal candidate will support and assist with day-to-day studio operations, is extremely process-oriented with a keen ability to multitask and switch seamlessly between projects while never losing sight of the big picture. This individual will also have exceptional organizational and time management skills, as well as the ability to influence and support the photo studio operations strategic planning and operational efficiencies goals. 

The Studio Operations Manager should have a passion for photography and content creation along with the knowledge and experience to leverage technology and tools to drive efficiency and quality. In partnership with Photography & Production, you will oversee the in-studio process and system decisions in a way that sets up Rent the Runway for long-term, successful, sustainable growth. This candidate will lead, drive and develop a broad team of freelance digital technicians supporting On-Model photography in various capacities working within a fast-paced studio environment. 

What You’ll Do:

  • Oversee the day-to-day management of the studio and roll out qualitative enhancements. 
  • Manage and supervise the studio workflow, upkeep, space organization, and in-house photoshoot processes. 
  • Evolve and oversee digital capture processes; in partnership with IT, Photography & Retouching.
  • Oversee processes for equipment prep and maintenance, including maintaining safe and orderly storage of equipment, studio supplies, and props. 
  • Partner with the Production team as expert on Capex budget planning for equipment.
  • Assist in building short-and long-term strategic plans to drive operational efficiency.
  • Develop procedures and processes that drive continuous optimization. Demonstrate thought leadership around digital industry trends and technologies. 
  • Manage and oversee roster of freelance Digital Techs ensuring quality and on-time delivery of all images. This includes creating workflow documents and training techs on new processes.
  • Be a visionary to how the photo space will evolve over time given the brand and shot count growth. 

About You: 

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in Photography or related field.
  • You have 5+ years of experience with a relevant background in professional digital photography, retail photo studio operations, or related field.
  • You are a cross-functional leader, capable of managing a team as well as holding strong partnerships with Production, Retouching, Creative, Styling, and Sample Management teams.
  • You are a productivity-focused and quick problem solver with a proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • You have advanced knowledge of Photo Digital Tech processes, workflows, and systems including Mac OS, Capture One Pro, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Excel, and other file management and processing tools and workflows.
  • You have expert knowledge of photographic techniques such as studio lighting, equipment, photographic gear, and photographic composition.
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and an ability to effectively communicate with both creative and technical teams.
  • You are passionate about continuous improvement and can incorporate changes to both tools and processes to drive optimal results.
  • You love building scrappy solutions when needed while continuing to work towards more long-term and scalable tools.
  • You enjoy learning new tools and workflows, become the subject-matter expert quickly, and are a go-to resource when considering process decisions.
  • You must be a self-starter, easily adaptable, and flexible.
  • You have experience with photo studio builds and physical workflow improvement (Six Sigma, Kaizen certification a plus).
