About the Role

Common is seeking a Supply Chain Manager to join the Design and Construction team, reporting to the Director of Construction. As Common’s pipeline of homes expands, we are procuring furniture in bulk from multiple international sources. The successful candidate will be responsible for building and managing a supply chain system to support this procurement, how it is ordered, stored, tracked and delivered to our homes.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience in national supply chain management and a solid grasp of financial accounting concepts as they relate to inventory. As Common continues our strong growth trajectory, this is an opportunity for a candidate with solid industry experience to step up and define the supply chain management department, with a growth pathway to a director level role within the company.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and manage an inventory / supply chain management system that tracks the location, quantity and value of assets as they are procured, stored and installed in our homes
  • Select and implement the software solution to manage this process
  • Work closely with the finance team to track and allocate assets financially as they are procured and transferred to homes
  • Source and vet third party storage providers nationally, both short and long term
  • Source and vet freight forwarding providers internationally and manage the import process, customs and relevant taxes and duties
  • Analyze combinations of procurement, shipping and storage options to determine the best overall outcome for Common
  • Assess our forecast home pipeline in each region against stock levels to make calculated purchasing decisions or asset transfers
  • Collaborate with the procurement team on cost analysis and negotiations with key suppliers
  • Produce financial forecasts and budgets specific to inventory delivery, storage and re-allocations

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in national logistics and supply chain management
  • Experience with software solutions to inventory tracking and procurement
  • Strong grasp of financial accounting concepts as they relate to inventory tracking such as depreciation and FIFO/LIFO
  • Demonstrate knowledge of or experience working with ERP systems
  • Strong Excel analysis skills
  • Ability to seek out, collate, and present raw data into new actionable initiatives
  • Strong analytical instinct and ability to independently identify issues and own the resolution
  • Experience overseeing process change and system implementation
  • Experience working with freight forwarding companies
  • Experience negotiating with third party providers
  • Connections in storage, transportation industry preferable
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or a related field
  • Ambitious and self driven, with a desire to create and take ownership over the entire department
