Job Description

The Bone Marrow Laboratory is seeking a Laboratory Technologist to perform special stains, differential counts and morphological identification of bone marrow aspirates.  

 

You will:

  • Review requisitions and order entry orders, verify accuracy of corresponding specimens, and enter required data into computer.
  • Perform technical duties in all laboratory sections, with minimal supervision, as assigned.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, legible, neat, organized, up-to-date records/logs/files.
  • Prepare results for analysis and enter test results into the computer, with minimal supervision.
  • Create neat, accurate, well-formatted documents.
  • Contribute to upkeep and safety of the laboratory and assure a clean, safe, adequately supplied work area.
  • Assure the accuracy of all tests performed by adhering to the laboratory’s Quality Control Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance. 

You have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Lab Sciences
  • Experience in morphological identification of bone marrow aspirates is preferred not required.
  • Experience performing peripheral blood differential counts.
  • A current New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist License.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • A strong drive to constantly learn and to develop your skills within a highly dynamic setting.

Hours:

  • 37.5 hours per week
  • Monday through Friday (Possible Saturday rotation)
  • Hours will fall between 7am and 8pm
