Cobalt is a venture-backed company that buys, builds and optimizes brands and products in the consumer healthcare space. We target companies founded by entrepreneurs that primarily focus as third-party sellers on Amazon. We have a team of digital health and Ecommerce veterans that bring talent and capital to these companies and empower them to grow and reach a large group of consumers who need their products. 

As Vice President of Supply Chain & Inventory you will have ownership over all aspects of the supply chain from manufacturing to delivery of products from the brands we acquire. You will advise the head of acquisitions during the due diligence phase to identify and quantify opportunities to improve margin and quality of products. Once we acquire the brands you will build a supply chain for Cobalt including new IT, manufacturing and supplier relationships to deliver incremental margin dollars and profit on an ongoing basis. You will also work with the head of sales and business intelligence to lower working capital requirements by optimizing inventory levels to reach sales goals. You will report to and work with the CEO. This can be a remote position or based at our headquarters in NYC. 

What you'll do:

Process and Operations Management

  • Lead, manage, and direct all inventory and supply chain related activities including S&OP, forecasting, planning, procurement, order management, manufacturing liaison, etc.
  • Manage global logistics activities in close coordination with suppliers, freight forwarders, transportation carriers, and warehousing/third-party logistics service providers.
  • Manage internal ordering processes to optimize inventory, ensuring supplier and manufacturing compliance to contracts and regulatory standards.

Systems and Reporting

  • Reporting regularly to the company on key inventory metrics including purchase costs, lead times, inventory aging. 
  • Implementing systems and processes to track, manage, and forecast inventory across the business.

Continuous Improvement

  • Work with finance to assess, align and optimize supply chain processes internally and with external suppliers and manufacturing partners.
  • Own and communicate KPI performance across our supply chain and engage in thought leadership to ensure we are tracking the right metrics.

What you'll need:

  • Background (seems light on level of experience)
    • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business administration, or a related field.
    • 7+ years’ work experience, including 3+ years in a managerial role in purchasing, inventory, and logistics or a related field.
    • 2+ years managing remote teams.
    • Experience managing 50+ suppliers in a fast-paced environment with high variability particularly in retail/e-commerce (Amazon, Shopify, eBay, etc.) and consumer goods.
    • Experience in ERP Procure-to-Pay & inventory modules.
    • Proven track record in building, managing and leading teams.
    • Well-developed communication skills (including verbal and written fluency in English), with strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with all levels of employees and management.
    • Experience managing 500+ SKUs in a fast-paced environment with high variability particularly in retail/e-commerce (Amazon, Shopify, eBay, etc.) and consumer goods.
    • Experience in inventory management modeling, forecasting, reporting and automation.
