Getting together with real people in real life makes powerful things happen. Side hustles become careers, ideas become movements, and chance encounters become lifelong connections. Meetup brings people together to create thriving communities. Show up. Change lives.

Our NYC team is looking for a dynamic individual to lead Meetup Pro, an exciting new business area that helps organizations create local events around the world and allows millions of people to experience the power and joy that come from real, local, face-to-face community. Thousands of businesses currently organize Meetups, and organizations always ask how they can use the Meetup platform to connect their fans and followers in real life. We launched Meetup Pro to help those organizations transform their audience into a community. Meetup Pro allows brands (the vast majority of whom are tech companies) to grow awareness and foster real-life brand engagement at scale. Brands manage networks of Meetups, creating authentic connections with local communities of new and existing customers.

What you’ll do:

  • Report directly to company CEO and be the full P&L owner of the business
  • Drive the overall direction and success of Meetup Pro
  • Lead a team of 20+ individuals (both directly and indirectly reporting into the organization) out of our NYC HQ
  • Shape and lead the vision and execution of Meetup Pro, establishing product market fit, product vision, sales strategy, and overall financials
  • Set comprehensive goals for performance and revenue growth
  • Lead a cross-functional team that includes sales, client services, engineers, product managers, designers and analysts
  • Leverage and promote cross-company collaboration with WeWork and their existing portfolio of Fortune 500 clients

You’re our ideal teammate if you have:

  • Experience in a General Manager role where you were responsible for all aspects of a business (product vision, market fit, sales strategy and financials)
  • A passion for bringing people together, creating community and changing lives
  • Strong B2B experience with an emphasis on enterprise sales
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and a love of building products through experimentation and rapid testing
  • An ability to really drive enterprise product-market fit by deeply understanding the intersection of customer needs, market opportunity and meaningful future monetization
  • Developed and scaled a new business, either at a startup or within a larger company
  • Experience building a best-in-class inside sales organization that measures and optimizes seller efficiency and productivity
  • Extensive experience working in digital subscription businesses and marketplaces
  • Experience in tech event sales and marketing, inclusive of SMB and Enterprise level clients (valuable, but not required)
  • Built, led and inspired cross-functional teams
  • Expertise in developing and successfully selling to new markets along with the technology sector (our largest vertical).
  • An addiction to data and on obsession with measuring impact through performance/operations metrics
  • A strong track record working with web services and API monetization strategies
  • A sense of pride and ownership over the quality and execution of a great product
  • Ability to communicate and simplify complex ideas both downwards to the team and upwards to management

This is an exciting time to join as a Meetup executive. After 16 years of leadership by our Founder, we recently welcomed a new CEO to the company and are in the process of re-evaluating our priorities. Executives who join will be part of this highly dynamic strategy process that will impact our future for years to come. We are also a year into being acquired by WeWork, an amazing partner who continues to significantly invest in our growth.

Our team is bold, supportive, and passionate about bringing people together in real life to create community for everyone. We care about moving fast, real-world change, and building diverse, dynamic teams. We were recently acquired by WeWork, and the company is investing significantly in our growth. You in?

An Insider's view of Meetup

How would you describe the company’s work-life balance?

Meetup promotes a healthy balance and respect around work life, personal life, and family life. It's not simply policy but instead, the culture that lives with all employees (managers and leaders included). Work happens during our traditional business hours.

Harry Chiu

Head of Recruiting

What does your typical day look like?

As an engineer at Meetup, my mission is to build things that help product teams focus on our users and develop our product faster and with better quality. My team mob programs or pair programs by default, which works great for us because it increases code and architecture, knowledge sharing, focus, productivity and team bonding.

Jaclyn Jiménez

Senior Full Stack Engineer

How does the company support your career growth?

I created my own professional development path by participating in the Employee Resource Group and Diversity & Inclusion council. Participating and organizing these company initiatives allowed me to stretch my leadership muscles, understand the value of empathizing with my colleagues, and appreciate the ability to use my voice to influence change.

Lee Upshur

Pro Support Specialist

What is your vision for the company?

Meetup empowers personal growth through real human connections because we see a future built on deep trust and collective effort. We are creating a world where people can turn to each other to improve their lives. We believe that real, human connection drives real change.

David Siegel

CEO

What's something quirky about your company?

What I enjoy the most about working at Meetup is the people. As a mission driven company with a focus on building community, our community sets a great example. I consider myself incredibly lucky to work amongst such incredible individuals. I feel seen, supported, and empowered to not only be my unique self, but to make the changes I know I can.
