The marketing team at theSkimm is made up of experienced, resourceful, creative, scrappy hustlers. We pull out all of the stops to get sh*t done. We’re seeking an experienced paid specialist who is ready to jump in, be strategic, think outside of the box, and build a paid strategy across our products to drive the business forward. theSkimm is for high performers who thrive off of seeing direct impact and response to their work.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

You have both the strategic vision and operational chops to build a paid marketing strategy focused on acquisition and brand awareness. You draw insights from data and translate those into action plans for all internal and external teams.The nuts and bolts of the role include:

  • Working with the leadership team to develop a model for profitable, sustainable customer acquisition and retention to support the company’s aggressive multi-year growth strategy across our product suit including the Daily Skimm, theSkimm App, social, and more.
  • Acquiring subscribers across our products through online marketing channels (social, SEM, display, re-targeting, and influencer)
  • Testing the viability of traditional channels like radio, podcasts, display, etc and have an understanding of attribution partners to measure effectiveness
  • Working closely with finance and analytics teams to build, monitor and refine subscriber acquisition forecasts and budgets.
  • Identifying and managing third party vendors and agencies including paid media buying.
  • Having a strong understanding of our subscriber LTVs across products and develop target CACs by channel
  • Defining measurements of marketing effectiveness, implement tracking and reporting on measurements, and communicate regularly to teams and leadership; foster a culture of optimization.
  • Working with data and analytics team to identify highest value customer segments and tailor online marketing efforts to attract and retain these customers.
  • Working with marketing analytics to develop attribution modeling needed to compare and maximize the effectiveness of on and offline marketing expenditures.

WHAT WILL SET YOU UP FOR SUCCESS

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with a BA/BS in a related field
  • Work closely with designers and copywriters to generate relevant, high-performing campaigns for prospects based on their unique personas
  • Have successfully scaled multi-million dollar paid acquisition strategies in at least two previous roles and can recommend budget allocations across products based on analytics and company goals
  • Skilled at executing campaigns in top paid channels, especially digital (Facebook, Instagram, etc)
  • Experience implementing and tracking dynamic retargeting programs
  • Savvy with third party data and analytics platforms (Segment, Google Analytics, Looker, etc)
  • Willing to experiment fast and change paths as needed
  • Excellent data and analytics skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent project management skills

WHAT WOULD SET YOU APART

  • Experience working alongside tech, sales, and design teams. Ability to communicate in their shorthand
  • Have experience working directly with brands and building campaigns tailored to reach specific KPIs
  • Experience with digital, mobile, social media marketing
  • Knowledge of agency environment
  • Thrive in a cross functional setting and can lead in a highly dynamic and evolving environment
