Our Experience Design (XD) Research Operations team is looking for a dynamic Sr. Project Manager to join the team! In this exciting role, you will work closely with key stakeholders (internal and external) to deliver results for XD Research Operations initiatives, projects, and more.
Working in close partnership with a cross-functional program team, you will partner with other delivery and project leads to design and manage how work is delivered and have a direct impact on the operational integrity of the XD. You will support the broader team in resolving problems to support both internal teams, our partners and our customers.
- Work autonomously on large and small scale projects that have a direct impact on the XD. Effectively and independently identify and solve problems to improve current and future projects. Influence team and leadership as needed to ensure a timely, well-managed deliverable; partner closely with junior level associates to provide knowledge transfer and coaching, where appropriate.
- Drive research operations projects based on defined priorities; ensure scope of deliverables, timelines and budget are met; identify risks and issues and mitigate and / or escalate as needed. Design, develop, and manage processes in a complex dynamic environment, revising needs to meet changing requirements.
- Plan, design, manage and execute project plans to ensure delivery, bringing the ability to quickly put structure in place to manage the work. Remain highly organized and process-oriented with attention to detail, while establishing context and sound reasoning for data-driven decision making.
- Ensure status reports are submitted regularly, accurate, appropriately detailed, and visible to all relevant stakeholders. Maintain key project documentation.
- Display strong consulting and collaboration skills to work with partners to understand business problems and focus on bringing issues to resolution, escalating as necessary to meet timelines. Includes clarifying and defining business needs, requirements and use cases.
- Proactively identify and remediate risks, issues, and dependencies, escalating where necessary. Leverage problem solving skills to ensure project plans deliver on intent. Identify ways to improve and streamline business process
- Demonstrate outstanding communication and partnership skills which are essential for interacting and communicating with key stakeholders across all levels to manage, inform, and influence outcomes
- Build relationships as an active and engaged member of a team that is working on delivering features to our associates and / or customers
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the enterprise to provide strategic and tactical thought partnership that effectively drives process improvements and operational stability
- Must be able to influence and organize a team of individuals to effectively achieve goals
- Exhibit a proven track record of project management and execution on large, cross-functional projects
- Demonstrate organizational agility to adapt to changing demands
- Demonstrate an ability to write clear, concise documentation and communications
- Possess deep comfort in spreadsheets and JIRA, and with both quantitative and qualitative reporting
- Partner with internal stakeholders and functional performers to capture, track and drive resolution of defects and enhancements
- Facilitate data updates and communicate impacts to key performers and stakeholders
- Manage program communications, leveraging central repository for archival of artifacts
- Create, drive and maintain communications. Partner with key stakeholders to plan and deliver company and strategy focused communications to internal and external audiences.
- Manage niche and sophisticated vendor recruitment projects
- Able train and partner with Junior Associates
- Able to train Junior associates on types of projects
- Monitor large scale projects coming through the research registry
- Executive Communication skills
- Communicate and read out in MBRs or Ops reviews
- Meet with PA peers in Research LOBs
- Read out changes or updates to ResOps team as needed

Basic Qualifications:
- At least 5 years experience in a project management or project coordination role
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least 4 years of experience managing and interacting with external vendors
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in resource and task management
- Manage niche and sophisticated vendor recruitment projects
- Experience managing junior team members
- Experience using project management software and tools
The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $118,700 - $135,400 for Principal Project Manager
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
