Why it Matters: As an Associate Technical Product Manager, this person will collaborate with engineers, analysts, business partners, and other product managers to drive forward the our data products, insights, reports, and infrastructure initiatives across mission-critical Axios products. 

Go Deeper: The Associate Technical PM plays a key role to support the data teams at Axios and is deeply involved in their day-to-day, under the direction of the Technical PM and Head of Data, while making sure we’re investing in what matters. In this role, you will make an impact on Axios through the following responsibilities:

• Partnering with data product leadership to support product backlogs and maintain roadmaps for initiatives that often span teams and have many dependencies 
• Collaborating with data engineers, data scientists, and analysts to make sure they have clarity, clear pipelines, and stakeholder alignment
• Ensuring all tickets are fully defined and ready for engineering in advance of the appropriate grooming or planning session
• Partnering with data leadership to provide stakeholders with regular updates and clear communications
• Gathering feedback on products in use to determine improvements and future iterations
• Being keenly aware of key performance metrics, reporting needs, business goals, dependencies, and timelines
  

The Details: Ideal candidate should have an entrepreneurial spirit, be highly collaborative, exhibit a passion for building technology products, and have the following qualifications:

• Experience working in a software development organization
• An understanding of reporting, data products, and experience preparing communications and reports.
• Strong communication, writing, and presentation skills
• Familiarity in writing product specifications/tickets in Jira, or similar ticket-tracking tool
• An understanding of agile software development processes and metrics 
• Some experience working with analytics, performance, and/or reporting tools
• Preferred experience in working with large data sets and relational databases (Postgres, MySQL, Redshift, etc)
• Proficiency with SQL 
• Attention to detail and the discipline to dig beyond the surface layer on problems 
• A passion for solving problems and a strong belief in the Axios mission
