Block Renovation Group Product Manager

Block is a platform transforming the $400 billion renovation industry. Doing a home renovation is a very stressful and hard process. Our mission is to give homeowners a better way to improve the spaces they live in, and to give contractors a better way to work.

Block simplifies the renovation process to give homeowners a reliably good experience, with certainty around outcomes, quality, price, and time. We are building an ambitious, tenacious, and creative team unafraid of tackling new challenges. The founders are former leaders at Casper, HuffPost, and Rent the Runway. Investors include New Enterprise Associates, Lerer Hippeau Ventures, Obvious Ventures, and more.

Role & Responsibilities

We are looking for a Group Product Manager to lead an innovative and ambitious vision for how our platform plans and delivers a predictable renovation. You’ll help develop a system that translates the goals of a homeowner and their physical space into a compelling design complete with materials, labor, and pricing. You’ll then help connect the dots for design to enter the built environment, creating processes to protect quality and reduce error.

This is a player-coach role where you will mentor, develop, and manage a team along with leading and defining the strategy for an outcomes-based roadmap. You’ll work closely with our engineering, design, product, and operational teams to build an ecosystem that step-changes project throughput and produces great project outcomes. Your work will have a significant opportunity to impact Block’s scale.

Once here, you will:

  • Define strategy and our roadmap to scale design throughput and procurement leverage
  • Create processes and systems to ensure project quality and reduce cost of error
  • Push the envelope on adapting innovative technologies to develop structural advantages
  • Mentor and manage product team members to align strategy and increase impact
  • Form strong cross-functional partnerships with engineering, product design, and operations
  • Gain a deep understanding of business economics to deliver impact
  • Build feedback loops to share qualitative and quantitative insights

  • 5 to 8 years of product management experience with 1+ year of management experience
  • Sound product judgement to prioritize competing opportunities balancing near-term business objectives, long-term vision, and user needs
  • Fluency in leveraging data and analytics to inform decision-making
  • Passion for hypothesis-driven product development and experimentation
  • Clear communication skills to motivate and drive alignment across the organization
  • Grit and proven track record of delivering outcomes through continuous improvement
  • Willingness to be scrappy to validate concepts, manage scope, and deliver results
  • Passionate about technology and its application to generate delightful experiences

Benefits

  • Earn equity in an early stage high-growth company
  • 100% subsidized health insurance, dental coverage, vision coverage
  • 12 weeks universal fully paid family leave
  • PTO and company holidays
  • 3 weeks a year where you can work anywhere
  • 401k retirement savings plan with matching employer contribution
  • Employee discount on renovation services
  • Budgeted learning and development stipends
  • Working alongside an ambitious, kind, no-drama team

Company Philosophies

  • Force simplicity.
  • Problems are our fuel.
  • Be tenacious and calm.
  • Save money and time where we should.
