Why we’re hiring

Alloy is rapidly growing and seeking a Product Designer to join and support our Senior Product Designer. We have a number of key features to our product that our clients interact with which requires a lot of data to surface in the most clear, helpful way possible. 

This person will play an important role during all stages of product development. They must be skilled at translating the goal of the product into a functional user experience and nurturing that experience as the product matures through different stages of the product’s life cycle.

What you’ll be doing

We are seeking a Product Designer with a passion for finding solutions that allow clients to intuitively use our product. The ideal candidate will be skilled at each stage of the design process but always focused on the needs of the client.

Reporting into the Lead Product Manager, you’ll work closely with our senior product designer, product managers, and cross-functional engineering team members while relying on both qualitative and quantitative data to make informed decisions. Help us take our product to the next level! 

Responsibilities

• Translate wireframes and experiences into visual composites with attention to interaction design while following style and brand guidelines
• Prototyping and taking a product/feature from the idea stage through to launch
• Ability to take the product’s user research and analytics data and translate into clear, simple UIs
• Strong knowledge of current UX best practices, including user research and accessibility across web
• Collaborate with engineers to conceptualize, document, design and develop new product concepts
• Create mockups and work with engineers to oversee UI/UX design implementation, while also serving as an advocate for design in strategic product decisions
• Develop comprehensive annotated design specifications and functional documentation for our engineering team
• Work with engineering team to help develop UI pattern toolkits
• Identify new product improvements opportunities
• Stay up to day on current industry trends
• Modify and revise existing designs to meet changing client preferences
• Work closely with engineers to suggest improvements for products and processes
• Present product design ideas to teams and possibly senior leadership

What we are looking for

• 2+ years of design experience (preferably a mix of visual and product)
• BA in Design or relevant field preferred
• Knowledge of Sketch, Zeplin, Creative Suite
• Ideally experience working in the financial sector (not required!), or experience designing data-rich products or complex user experiences
• Self-motivated, ambitious with an entrepreneurial spirit, and excited about working with a startup
• Proven experience in all phases of the design process including user research, wireframing, prototyping, visual design, interaction design, and usability testing
• An intuitive eye for client needs beyond the obvious
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional team members
• A well-rounded portfolio of client work, demonstrating a strong understanding of UX 
• Ability to effectively communicate and persuade around design concepts
• Creative problem-solving skills
• Available examples of your product design for us to review
