Product Development Engineer

Resident seeks a Product Development Engineer to join us! This candidate will be responsible for driving all technical new product development activities and will work closely with our partners. The ideal candidate will be comfortable in a fast paced environment, someone who finds taking on multiple tasks to be exciting and rewarding will exceed in this role.
**This is a Remote Position with 30-40% Travel. To be considered for this role you must reside in the United States.**
Responsbilities
- Develop new product functional and engineering designs and specifications that meet functional specs developed by marketing
- Propose and drive specific development activities for new product functionality with our key development suppliers
- Document product functionality roadmap
- Drive the technical product schedules through all phases and insure documentation of the designs
- Track schedules and communicate changes and recovery plans proactively as key milestones are missed
- Identify patent opportunities during the development processes
- Develop and drive testing plans that confirm the products meet the functional and product specifications
- Work closely with marketing on claims
- Ensure new products meet all regulatory requirements
- Drive continuous cost efficiency in the products through the development cycle and in successive generations
Requirements
- BS/MS in Engineering Discipline, preferably Mechanical or Chemical/Materials
- 5 years+ experience in product and materials development required
- Creativity and ability to turn concepts into novel product designs
- Ability to work cross functionally within the company and with key suppliers
- Strong analytical skills with ability to drive solutions to complex problems using data
- Experience in a start up environment with a focus on ecommerce preferred
