Product Manager, Commercial Observer 

Observer Media is seeking an experienced Product Manager to join the Product team. The Product Manager, Commercial Observer will be the product owner for commercialobserver.com and will play a critical role in growing our digital business. Reporting directly to the VP of Product, this individual will be responsible for all aspects of the business including end-user experience, advertiser products and internal tools. Most excitingly this role will run point on the newly launched Commercial Observer Membership product. This is an opportunity to be in the driver’s seat at the leading commercial real estate publication as it builds out its first subscription product and paywall.

 Primary Responsibilities:

  • Own the membership experience and paywall rules and optimize both to drive strong growth in registered users and paying subscribers

  • Be the subject-matter expert and primary internal user of our licensed paywall management platform including conceiving and executing A/B tests

  • Leverage CRM, analytics platforms and user behavior data to increase conversions and inform new product development; recommend new tools and partners as needed

  • Own the KPIs for the digital business including the website (traffic) and email newsletters (open rate, clickthrough rate) keeping management apprised, offering insights into trends and conceiving strategies for improving

  • Know the customer better than anyone else - what content, information and tools can we provide commercial real estate professionals to be successful - by talking to and surveying them

  • Follow and understand the landscape of competition in the commercial real estate media and information business to identify challenges and opportunities

  • Collaborate closely with Subscription and Event Marketing to develop campaigns that grow our audience and drive conversions

  • Identify opportunities to improve search engine optimization and organic traffic as a key driver of growing our audience

  • Partner with external web development agency to plan and lead development sprints

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of digital product management experience, ideally at a media company or in an e-commerce business

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university required

  • Experience working in an agile software development environment required

  • Google Analytics and JIRA experience strongly preferred

  • Experience with CRM or CDP (customer data platforms) preferred

  • Excellent communication and project management skills

  • Proven analytical prowess, designing meaningful optimization tests, interpreting data and acting on results

  • Strong collaboration skills including the ability to work with across different levels and functions in the organization
