Dotdash seeks a Product Manager who will help us build a world-class publishing platform that is used by 10+ development teams driving innovation for more than 20 brands that reach over 100 million users each month. You’ll focus on initiatives that optimize collaboration among our 1000+ editorial and SEO users. You’ll report directly to the Associate Director of Product, Content Creation & Collaboration.

Our ideal candidate has familiarity with a wide range of technologies related to digital publishing, especially Workflow Management and its relation to the content lifecycle. Experience with modeling and streamlining editorial workflows using systems such as BPML, BPDM or other process notation is highly desired.

About Your Contributions:

  • Product Vision: work with technical leaders and editorial stakeholders to build a roadmap for the features and capabilities of our publishing platform related to improving our workflow and assignment software. Examples include: maintaining the existing workflow software used by our editorial teams, adopting new service-layer systems to enable new workflows, and integrating assignments and workflows across multiple apps in our publishing platform.
  • User Focus: create solutions for users first, help your team to cultivate empathy for their end users and be an advocate for their needs. Research what your users might want or need to ensure we are creating products for them that are as helpful as possible by conducting discovery, qualitative research, and competitive analysis.
  • Orchestration: Prioritize and drive initiatives across multiple engineering teams, acting as the product SME from a functional perspective, showcasing, championing, and finding ways to constantly innovate.
  • Technical Grasp: Understand Dotdash and vendor APIs, their usage, and their impact on the platform ecosystem.
  • Product Development: as a product owner, work with cross-functional, agile teams to develop, launch, optimize, and maintain/retire features in a fast-paced environment; make the call on desired product functionality and make real-time decisions to ensure that we are on track to meet business goals.

About You:

  • “Platform thinking” is part of your DNA. You naturally build for scale and reuse, always thinking ahead to the longer-term.
  • You have 3-5 years of hands-on product management—day-to-day product ownership and ideation with scrum teams. Previous experience working with internal tools preferred.
  • You understand business process management concepts and are able to translate these into highly functional workflows to save editors time and effort.
  • You’re excellent at communicating and collaborating with a wide range of teams and stakeholders to build great products, particularly senior engineering leaders and other product owners.
  • You possess an innate desire to collect, synthesize, and analyze data to inform your decision-making.
  • You’re able to juggle the needs of multiple technical leaders and product managers, developing strategic product plans for each of them.
  • You have a passion for figuring out user problems and pain points.
  • You’re capable of developing with a big-picture product strategy for meeting user needs, selling it, and then working out the details to get the plan over the finish line.
  • You’re fluent in Agile principles and methodology.

An Insider's view of Dotdash Meredith

What projects are you most excited about?

Atomic design is in our DNA at Dotdash. We're striving to have the dev and design teams work closer together and use a single source of truth for how components are pieced together using predefined molecules and atoms. This is exciting and innovative work that is helping us scale at an incredible rate and deliver on our promise of fastest sites!

Brian

Manager, Front-End Development

How do you empower your team to be more creative?

We do quite a few things to encourage creativity like hackathons, design sprints, and "Unconferences". That said, I think the most meaningful thing we do is to encourage teams to be autonomous. Having control and ownership over their respective applications gives our team members the freedom to explore ideas to solve their own problems.
