Product Manager, Front-End Platform
About Your Role:
Dotdash seeks a Product Manager who will help us build a world-class platform that is used by 10+ development teams driving innovation for more than 20 brands that reach over 100 million users each month. You'll work at the heart of our brand ecosystem, partnering with publishing and brand teams to create and execute the strategy for the platform.
Our ideal Product Manager has experience in developing services and infrastructure, solid business judgment, great communication skills, and a motivation to over-achieve. To be successful in this role, you must have a passion for designing and building high-quality, robust, scalable and extensible products, and be a natural problem solver who is excited to find creative technology solutions to address user and technology needs.
About Your Contributions:
- Product Vision: work with technical leaders and product owners across the organization to define a product roadmap for the features and capabilities of our platform. Examples include: bringing pagespeed, accessibility, and template enhancements to market; helping define best practices and standards for shared components, functionality, and code; and helping to solve interoperability challenges across code bases.
- Product Development: as a product owner, work with cross-functional, agile teams to develop, launch, optimize, and maintain/retire features in a fast-paced environment; make the call on desired product functionality and make real-time decisions to ensure that we are on track to meet business goals.
- User Focus: create solutions for users first; research what your users might want or need to ensure we are creating products for them that are as helpful as possible by conducting discovery, qualitative research, and competitive analysis.
- Leadership: act as a leader to cross-functional, internal teams so that they are excited, motivated, and know what is expected; effectively evangelize the product vision with various stakeholders throughout the company, and prioritize and drive initiatives across multiple engineering teams. Build for the long term, and be the defender of sustainable architecture.
- Communication: document and communicate product requirements (user stories, briefs, designs, etc) that are clear, thorough, timely and convey the desired functional experience to all internal parties; be the product SME from a functional perspective, showcasing, championing, and finding ways to constantly innovate.
- Documentation: understand interfaces and services enough to write and improve documentation, and interpret and translate technical capabilities and constraints for non-technical stakeholders.
About You:
- "Platform thinking" is part of your DNA. You naturally build for scale and reuse.
- You have 3-5 years of hands-on product management-day-to-day product ownership and ideation with scrum teams. Previous experience working on shared platforms utilized by multiple teams is preferred.
- You're excellent at communicating and collaborating with a wide range of teams and stakeholders to build great products, particularly senior engineering leaders and other product owners.
- You're able to juggle the needs of multiple technical leaders and product managers, developing strategic product plans for each of them.
- You possess an innate desire to collect, synthesize, and analyze data to inform your decision-making.
- You have a passion for figuring out user problems and pain points.
- You're capable of developing a big-picture product strategy for meeting user needs, selling it, and then working out the details to get the plan over the finish line.
- You're fluent in Agile principles and methodology.
