The Tech & Product team uses cutting edge Big Data technologies (Google Cloud Platform, BigQuery) and modern JavaScript web frameworks (React, Redux) to build and deliver data applications that bring tremendous value to Group Nine.

We are seeking a passionate data-minded Product Manager to join our newly formed Data Insights pod! This position offers an opportunity to drive the success of high-visibility data-forward products that impact many facets of the business, including revenue generation, content creation and content distribution.

In this role, you’ll collaborate with a team of engineers, data scientists, and product designers to create a suite of proprietary insights tools that leverage Group Nine’s vast dataset and surfaces smart, actionable insights to internal teams and advertising partners. You’ll form strong relationships with stakeholders from across the business and work with them to identify innovative ways to apply data science that align with business goals and alleviate pain points.

Your contribution to pod’s success will be critical. Responsible for guiding the entire product life cycle, you’ll work hand-in-hand with team members to design and develop proof of concepts, lean experiments, lightweight prototypes, and MVPs. With this, you’ll establish efficient feedback loops to quickly validate ideas and turn models into interactive, user-friendly tools.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with team to concept, design, build, test, and deliver innovative, best-in-class solutions.
  • Work with cross-functional stakeholders to understand and identify pain points and opportunities and align on business priorities and strategic objectives
  • Own the data insights roadmap, establishing consensus among key stakeholders on timelines and priorities
  • Write detailed product requirements and work with team members to breakdown and estimate projects, resulting in well-defined sprints and a groomed backlog
  • Plan and manage quality assurance and user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Partner with data scientists and engineers on the development and rollout of lean experiments, lightweight prototypes, and MVPs.
  • Provide input to engineering on decisions regarding technology selection, use of third party vendors, and implementation approach.
  • Work closely with Data Platform and Media Management pods to ensure reliable ingestion of data and assets

About you

  • You have 3+ years of Product Management experience
  • You have a track record of successfully shipping high visibility, high-impact products
  • You have a competitive understanding of the digital media landscape
  • You possess a strong knowledge of technical concepts and are very comfortable working with engineers to grasp and articulate complex systems
  • You are passionate about digging into and solving problems. You offer creative and feasible solutions
  • You have exceptional verbal/written communication skills.
  • You have amazing attention to detail and organizational skills
  • You are comfortable working in a fast-paced ever-changing environment and have the ability to gracefully handle multiple ongoing projects
  • You care deeply about usability and design
  • You have experience using Google Analytics to pull and share data (experience with Google Data Studio is a plus)
  • You have experience with agile teams and using ticketing systems (we use JIRA)

Bonus Points

  • Experience building data products and creating data visualizations
  • Experience or familiarity with statistics, predictive modeling, and/or Data Science concepts (machine learning, computer vision, NLP, etc.)
  • Understanding and experience with digital advertising practices
