The MLB Product Team is currently seeking an experienced Senior Product Manager with experience building complex and innovative data products. This role will lead the development of Major League Baseball's foundational data platform which will centralize all MLB fan data, creating a Single Identity for fans across all of MLB's digital products. The data platform will play a pivotal role in enabling highly personalized, on-time, and consistent experiences for our fans in their day-to-day interactions with baseball across various products and channels.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Product Management for Data Platform. Focus on centralizing all fan data in one platform, creating new data products to meet use case needs and enable seamless access to the data for consumers
  • Craft business requirements for the data platform by understanding needs of use cases and data consumers across MLB
  • Work with key stakeholders across the company to prioritize high value features and build consensus
  • Create and manage features, roadmaps, day to day planning activities and rollouts by effectively partnering with other groups within MLB
  • Effectively support the product design, engineering and QA teams throughout sprint cycles by proactively removing roadblocks
  • Maintain a strong focus on data quality given its implications across high value use cases
  • Build and manage relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders across MLB
  • Keep a pulse on the sports media industry, including best practices and trends to create best-in-class products

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Product Manager, supporting data platforms / analytics for consumer facing products
  • Technical background along with hands on experience in analyzing large scale data sets with SQL, Python, R, etc
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science / Engineering / Statistics or Management
  • Proven experience in owning projects through to completion, from requirements gathering through rollout and training
  • Self-starter who is energetic & enthusiastic, confident, adaptable & fan-oriented
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies including such as scrum or kanban
  • Proven success working in a fast-paced and collaborative environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, leadership, problem-solving and presentation skills
  • Ability to multitask and manage deadlines in a cross-functional team
  • Fortitude to remain calm and react appropriately in high-pressure situations

Highly Qualified Applicants will have:

  • A love of baseball
  • Hands on data analytics experience in digital marketing, personalization, app / web domain
  • Experience in using cloud based services
  • Prior experience in building identity solutions
