We are looking for an experienced Senior Product Manager to partner with our Platform Engineering group, which is responsible for developing the foundational services, applications, and components that cut across all of Codecademy’s business units. You will own prioritizing stakeholder and customer needs, creating the roadmap, getting it funded, and facilitating day-to-day product discovery and delivery activities to achieve the team’s committed key results. The ideal candidate will work with engineering to develop core platform features and manage vendor integrations across a broad range of domains including user management, authorizations, payments/billing, messaging, and more.
What You’ll Do:
- Define long-term product direction across cloud infrastructure that influences Platform-wide strategy and own the delivery of key technical components and quality standards.
- Partner with Engineering leadership to develop the vision and strategy for how we evolve our applications and tools from discrete applications to a platform model, with the ability to scale and service multiple tenants.
- Lead by example using quantitative and qualitative data to drive decision making
- Articulate product strategy across platform, partners, and integrations, and sell your vision to leadership, and champion a roadmap that inspires the business unit to deliver the strategy
- Author product briefs describing each opportunity with value props for our customers and the business
- Create business justifications with partners in financial planning and analysis to get the roadmap’s initiatives funded
- Launch product initiatives with high confidence through mitigating risks and executing go-to-market plans with product marketing
- Track and achieve the product squad’s KPIs, using lean techniques to quickly learn and test your squad’s hypotheses
- Develop written requirements with acceptance criteria and negotiate trade-offs with engineering and design
- Shepherd projects from ideation to delivery to results analysis and into iteration
- Lead daily standups, planning, and grooming activities
- Lead cross-functional teams to identify and specify solutions to customer problems that are enriching, usable, feasible, and that benefit the business
What you will need:
- 5+ years of Product Management experience with a proven record of successfully launching and scaling platforms
- Demonstrated understanding of cloud technologies at scale
- Proven success in defining, packaging, and launching bundled API-based web services, platform-based offerings or services built to help drive scale in a broad product portfolio
- Reputation as a customer-obsessed product owner
- A “Founder” mentality - relentless, resourceful, proactive, and results-oriented
- Demonstrated data literacy
- Experience with user interviews and experimentation methods and processes
- Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
- Experience developing business cases from product strategies that were funded
- Strong track record of developing and shipping high-quality products for web, mobile, and tablets
- Expertise in agile development software methodologies
- Strong track record of establishing trusted relationships

- Strong understanding of platform service models, including Platform as a Service (PaaS)
- Experience integrating payment gateways for eCommerce functions
- Familiarity with popular front and back end technologies
- Knowledge of software development lifecycle processes
- Experience with education technology
- A background in Computer Science
