About the Role

New Classrooms is seeking a Technical Business Analyst (BA) to help design the products and services which power our Teach to One personalized education program. The Technical Business Analyst will work to understand organizational needs in order to help establish and improve the algorithms that drive how students progress through their personalized curriculum and improve the platforms that students and teachers utilize to experience Teach to One.

The Technical BA will interact at a senior level across departments turning solution ideas into clearly documented product and service designs, and collaborate with engineers and QA to develop technical documentation of those products. This role represents a tremendous opportunity to have both strategic and tactical impact on some of New Classrooms’ most important assets.

 

What You Will Do

  • Design products and services to advance Teach to One in the areas of scheduling students, managing student curriculums, creating and delivering assessments, measuring student success, and delivering program information to students and teachers via a web portal
  • Author functional requirements and user stories based on an understanding of business requirements elicited from cross-functional teams
  • Collaborate with engineers to write and own technical documentation for the products and services supporting Teach to One
  • Conduct root cause analysis in collaboration with stakeholders across several functions
  • Collaborate with Technical Project Managers to prioritize and manage feature development and bug resolution in agile sprints
  • Prioritize a product backlog with input from cross-functional teams
  • Collaborate with Operations to develop new or modified product/service designs that can support more efficient internal operations
  • Partner with other Technical BAs within the Technical Design team to provide a holistic, quality experience for students, teachers, and New Classrooms stakeholders
  • Support continuous improvement efforts of the products/services supporting Teach to One and the software development process at New Classrooms

What We Are Looking For

  • Some or all of the following:
    • Experience with data-centric algorithms and/or rule based systems
    • Experience in UX design
    • Experience in functional and technical design and requirements analysis
    • Advanced skills in Excel or Google Sheets and SQL
    • An understanding of agile software development
    • Proficiency with Atlassian Suite (Jira and Confluence)
  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to collect, organize, and disseminate significant amounts of information with accuracy and extraordinary attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent written and verbal communication, including technical writing skills, are needed to effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical teams
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment while balancing the needs of cross-functional teams
  • Self-starter that is comfortable taking on responsibility and dealing with ambiguity
  • Confidence and poise to plan and lead requirements gathering sessions with New Classrooms’ employees representing various stakeholders in the education space (e.g., districts, teachers, students)
  • Ability to collaborate with software and automation engineers on a daily basis to guide the development of software that meets the needs of the program
