The Role:

The Vice President of Product will champion the strategy, execution, and revenue growth for Newsela’s platform and content products, helping achieve and maintain high levels of engagement and business growth. Reporting directly to our Chief Product Officer, you will build, lead, manage, and mentor a team of product managers. You will translate the business strategy and vision from our leadership team into execution-ready product strategy for your team, and will partner with leaders across Newsela to ensure we’re achieving our vision cohesively, effectively, and in a way that creates confidence in our ability to deliver high engagement product experiences that customers purchase. You’ll serve as a key leader driving our product roadmap and delivery, and will ensure the ongoing health and quality of our content and platform products.

Why You’ll Love This Role:

The strategy and vision you help transform into reality will directly impact the learning and teaching experience of over 25 million users across the U.S. You will have the opportunity to help shape the future of K-12 education by building and delivering delightful, engaging, intuitive products, and will help influence our product roadmap as we evolve our product suite. You’ll get to work closely with our executive leadership team and will partner across the organization with GTM and Technology teams to influence strategy and execution of work. You’ll also be able to grow and develop your own team, and be a mentor to product managers and teammates beyond your reportees.

 Why We’ll Love You:

With 10+ years of experience in product leadership, you are deeply familiar with technology and can shape effective prioritization and requirement specificity to usher product development through to completion. You have demonstrated success in performing in-depth market assessment, translating financial targets into product strategic action, and balancing spend/revenue to budgets, metrics, operations, talent, and org alignment. You’re a data-centric leader, able to dive deep into the product performance metrics to identify fact patterns and derive action, while also seeking deep insight through user research measures to understand quantitative patterns. You confidently build sound arguments and business cases for investments, while always preserving a bias to action given constraints (time, resources, data) in order to achieve business outcomes and solve user needs. In addition to your passion for building great products, you are equally committed to growing and developing your own team; you’ve successfully led multi-level teams and have coached your direct reports to be supportive, successful managers of their own teams. While not a requirement, experience in education or edtech is a plus.
