The Assistant Director of Career Management, Cornell Tech, will play a key role in driving the career services function serving the Johnson Cornell Tech MBA (JCT MBA) program.  The position reports to the Senior Director, Cornell Tech Career Management. The incumbent will  design and  lead innovative programs to meet these needs, deliver career development programs, plan and execute events, develop and refine processes, engage with potential employers on behalf of the students, and coach students one-on-one and in groups.  Approximately 20% of the role will include support for Cornell Tech’s students in technical programs.

 

Overall responsibilities include:

· Provide consistent support for Johnson Cornell Tech MBA students pursuing careers in a range of companies with a focus on technology and innovation, including entrepreneurial opportunities, job search approach and alternative career paths.

· Establish, cultivate and manage relationships with a diverse pool of prospective employers as well as other entities which can build a pipeline to such employers for career opportunities across business and technical programs.

· Implement innovative programming to expose students to careers and attract employers to recruit Cornell Tech students across business and technical programs.

· Support JCT MBA students during the program’s summer term in Ithaca.

· Partner with Johnson Career Management on joint opportunities and events.

· Design and manage career training programming to enhance students’ preparedness for interviews

· Drive metrics to track placements of students and alumni.

· Collaborate with Cornell Tech Career Management Team to oversee career-related events for students and provide career support for alumni.

 

This is a full-time position based at the Cornell Tech campus in New York City. The position will require frequent participation in evening events. The incumbent will be expected to spend up to 4 weeks on the Ithaca campus over the summer to support the JCT MBA summer program, as determined by the Senior Director based on program needs. Travel to Ithaca expected to be 10-15% effort annually.

 

Required qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 4 years of experience in a relevant business or operational functional (recruiting/HR) or career services industry.

· A thorough understanding of student and employer needs in recruiting (especially in tech sector)  and an ability to shape and lead efforts to support those groups.

· Experience in coaching and mentoring.

· An ability to exercise independent decision-making and handle complex, confidential issues, in a fast-paced, demanding, changing environment.

· Ability to communicate and influence with tact and diplomacy to a wide range of internal and external constituents.
