About Us

We operate in 8 markets across the U.S. including New York, San Francisco, Chicago and Washington D.C. We operate and maintain safe and dependable systems that help make cities great by connecting individuals to the people and places they love.

About the role

Team management responsibilities:
As the Chief of Staff, you will strategically manage the leadership team through their evolving priorities. From ensuring executive meetings run smoothly and with appropriate follow-up, to managing the CEO’s calendar, you will make sure the executive team is well-organized and tracking on all major deliverables.

Communications responsibilities:
You will work closely with the Chief Customer Officer to develop and implement the company’s communications strategy across all channels. You’ll have full responsibility for a broad range of company-wide communications projects, from developing content for internal communications to creating and maintaining our external presence for business development and recruitment opportunities. This is a unique opportunity to be a key contributor who will shape the future of Motivate LLC’s strategy, brand and culture.

Some of your initial projects will include overhauling and maintaining our intranet, leading development of employee newsletters, and maintaining our online presence (website and social media). When we need branded materials (posters, swag, etc.) created and produced, we’ll count on you to lead the design and work with vendors to ensure successful production and delivery to our teams across the country.

About the day to day

  • Support executive meetings and team events by managing agendas, logistics, and tracking status of deliverables
  • Manage the CEO’s calendar by prioritizing their time spent with various stakeholders
  • Manage Communications projects on ad-hoc and on-going bases; maintain a work plan of key activities across channels
  • Create impactful communications including talking points, presentations and newsletters
  • Create employee-facing materials, such as literature and swag, from design to production, and identify and implement creative ways to reach field team members with company messages
  • Build and maintain our intranet, website, and social media presence
  • Build and maintain our branded materials including business cards, internal reports and documents. You’ll “own” our brand and will ensure our voice remains consistent across all market locations

About You

  • You have an undergraduate degree in business, communications, marketing, journalism, English or another related field.
  • You have been working in a business communications or team leader role in a fast paced environment for at least one year, and you have a knack of managing up and exercising leadership without authority.
  • You’re an excellent writer and have a knack for creating punchy messages that keep people engaged. You have experience developing content for internal communications (emails, newsletters, all-hands, etc.) for a variety of audiences and can craft a PowerPoint presentation in your sleep.
  • You are a highly organized, detail oriented, collaborative team player, and thrive in a dynamic fast-paced environment.
  • You can work independently to juggle multiple priorities, set efficient timelines and meet project goals.
  • You are creatively minded and have the personality that can adapt in any situation.

Bonus Points

  • Passion for bikes, efficiency and sustainability
  • Experience at high-pressure early-stage start-up or newly acquired company (We’re a rapidly-growing company, and no two months--or two days--will ever be the same!)
  • Experience in Google Suite and graphics / creative software (Adobe InDesign, PhotoShop, Illustrator); photography skills
  • Experience developing impactful and unique ways to communicate to remote staff
