The Trade Desk is changing the way global brands and their agencies advertise to audiences around the world. How? With a media-buying platform that helps brands deliver a more insightful and relevant ad experience for consumers — and sets a new standard for global reach, accuracy, and transparency.

So if you’re talented, driven, creative, and hungry to bring something entirely new and wildly ambitious into the world (and have some fun doing it), then we want to talk.

As a Commercial Activation Specialist, you will:

  • Think Strategically. Be a leading member of the team that identifies and analyzes business objectives and develops a story that clearly communicates The Trade Desk’s value to an advertiser’s business.
  • Know the Business. Become very familiar with The Trade Desk’s platform, product offering, resources, competitive advantages and, more generally, programmatic strategies.
  • Be a Storyteller. Leverage Trade Desk’s industry-leading position and proprietary technology to, clearly and succinctly, articulate how we can help contribute to our clients’ health and growth.

At the core, you will have a passion for synthesizing complex solutions into simplified sales narratives. And you will be a natural leader in the sales process with an eye towards revenue generation.

  • Upon handoff by sales, you will lead the RFP/RFI process of pulling together the team and needs in response. This includes completion of RFIs, plus collection and creation of the deck or outward-facing materials.
  • Work with those internally to develop the sales teams’ knowledge about key company initiatives and products, plus industry vertical insights.
  • Partner with sales to understand the prospecting strategy, and to research brands, advertisers and marketplace trends that will focus on current marketing efforts, competition, and positioning.

  • Passionate about the AdTech ecosystem and/or programmatic industry, and comfortable with online advertising measurement.
  • A strategic, analytic thinker and who can execute tactically to formulate a cohesive narrative utilizing a data-driven approach.
  • With 2-4 years of relevant experience in sales development, media planning, digital strategy, sales/corporate strategy or consulting; ideally within AdTech, the broader digital media industry, the television or streaming industry, at a SaaS company, or media consulting firm.
  • An independent worker, who’s a self-starter, self-motivated, and scrappy, and who well with ambiguity and take initiative and ownership to get the job done.
  • A great communicator, verbally and written, with written and the ability to articulate thoughts and ideas to internal and external stakeholders.
  • A team player who participates and leads discussions; share best practices and knowledge with other Commercial Activation Team members globally.
  • A quick learner who’s able to grasp new technology and product changes and able to turn a concept or idea into substantive sales materials.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and able to produce high-quality work that represents The Trade Desk in-market.
  • Proficient with Microsoft products like PowerPoint, Excel and Word).
  • Recipient of a Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year university.

An Insider's view of The Trade Desk

How do you collaborate with other teams in the company?

Our most recent Connected TV (CTV) launch was exciting because CTV is a big industry game changer. A lot of people from the London office worked on the project, so I know about the problems we had to solve in order to get us to the point where we could push it live. I’m excited to see how well it takes off.

Software Engineer

What makes someone successful on your team?

Unrelenting curiosity. When you’re given a problem or task, you’re so curious that you become obsessive about solving it. I always know that I’ve found great engineers when they refuse to let go of a problem I’ve given them until they figure it out. This quality proves especially useful for a lot of the problems we work on.

Senior Software Engineer

How do you make yourself accessible to the rest of the team?

During the Engineering Palooza event three years ago, a group of 25 engineers, spent a week in Boulder just brainstorming ideas and talking about our next-gen infrastructure. The sheer brain power in that room was absolutely amazing! Since then, the team has grown, ideas have expanded, and we’re tackling more complex problems than ever before.

Principal Lead Software Engineer

What's the biggest problem your team is solving?

Those moments usually involve us looking at vast volumes of data to answer a question or inform a decision. A few examples are investigating how a client uses a certain feature, so we can build a new one to increase efficiency, or helping partners write an attribution model or build a custom report, so they can gain new insights from their data.
