Director of Operations

| Greater NYC Area

At Feather, our mission is to transform humanity's relationship with material goods to create a healthier and happier planet. You’ll join a fast-paced, innovative team whose passion lies in delighting customers and helping people live lighter.

Feather is growing our best-in-class operations team, and is seeking a Director of Operations to manage the unique and complex fulfillment, supply chain, reverse supply chain and field team strategy at Feather. You will play a critical role in overseeing the planning, supply chain, manufacturing, and logistics infrastructure for Feather, encompassing a robust DTC platform.

The role not only demands a seasoned strategic thinker, but also a tactical team player willing to roll up their sleeves. It will require a mix of proactive analysis and strategic development, team-building, cross-functional leadership, and excellent project management. You’ll collaborate closely with the warehouse, delivery, account management, digital product, and merchandising teams at Feather, and will report directly to the COO.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Iterate on an existing innovative supply chain focused on Feather’s unique model and distribution strategy to support growth in existing markets, while keeping a close eye on new market expansion and the implications of vastly broadening the scope of Feather’s operation
  • Build and scale HQ and field operations teams that will unlock an industry best customer and employee experience
  • Evaluate key 3PL partners to optimize the flow of goods, balancing short-term realities and the needs of our growing business with strategic and budget goals
  • Create and monitor the performance of budgets related to direct-from-manufacturer sourcing, drayage and storage, as well as domestic distribution
  • Work cross-functionally with merchandising & operations teams to contribute to a growth plan that will allow Feather to scale efficiently
  • Support the demand planning team to build a powerful procurement tool to drive decision making that takes into consideration cash flow, warehousing commitments, and our reverse logistics model, all while meeting ever-changing consumer demand
  • Identify forecast risks and develop mitigation plans, ensuring infrastructure can withstand unforeseen obstacles

What you need to be successful:

  • 5+ years of experience in hands-on operations, supply chain, and/or logistics, including a leadership role in high growth start-up
  • 5+ years in labor management, building and managing a diverse field operations (warehouse & delivery) team, ideally from an early stage
  • An understanding of macro-level supply chain trends, the confidence to make responsible & informed bets on those trends
  • In-depth experience with MRP, production planning, BOM management, NPI/ EOL, inventory target setting and supply allocation
  • Proven experience in finding and vetting established suppliers and partners, developing long-term relationships, and negotiating strategic agreements to ensure constant cost, lead-time, and quality improvements
  • Ability and desire to run initiatives end-to-end with full ownership

Who you are:

  • Based in NYC (or willing to move)
  • Excited about joining a small team and growing with Feather
  • Passionate about Feather's mission
  • Eligible to work in the United States

What you’ll get when joining Feather:

  • Competitive compensation
  • Generous health, vision, dental, and ancillary benefits
  • Flexible vacation and paid time off
  • A 50% discount on your own Feather subscription
  • The latest MacBook and a high-resolution external monitor
  • A stylish desk and an ergonomic chair (it's what we do, after all!)
