Manager, Technical Program Management
The Team:
Technical Program Managers (TPMs) are responsible for our most challenging cross-team projects. We are highly technical, organized, and deliver projects across ambiguous ownership lines. When we need to update our platform to work with new infrastructure or implement new system-wide capabilities, our TPMs lead the effort. TPMs are responsible for seeing programs through from beginning to end, ensuring a better workflow and more effective communication. They work closely with executives and key company stakeholders to drive critical programs and activities across the company.
The Opportunity:
As one of the managers in the Technical Program Management team, you will partner with our Engineering leaders to identify opportunities for TPMs to add value by driving large-scale programs. You will utilize your leadership skills and program management experience to grow and mentor a team of TPMs and oversee the breadth of programs led by your team. You'll be part of the leadership team that sets a vision and direction for the overall TPM team, and help establish standards and practices that best fit the organization.
You Will:
- Need to understand Datadog technology and the challenges our eng teams face
- Establish credibility and rapport with technical peers
- Manage a team of TPMs, both team leads and individual contributors, who work on the most technical aspects of Datadog's infrastructure
- Take a hands on approach to the work your team delivers, as necessary
- Help grow the team and develop your team members
- Have a solid program management background and are able to drive process improvements across multiple teams and functions, ensuring the approach is aligned with Datadog's culture
- Able to communicate with senior executives, and be confident in the presence of leaders
- Be comfortable in an ambiguous environment and respond well to frequent change
You Are:
- 7-10 years experience as a Technical Program Manager, working on cross-organizational projects
- 5-7 years of experience in leading teams within technical program management or equivalent roles, ideally at a SaaS company
- Can navigate technical conversations regarding cloud-based infrastructure
- Thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle; ability to adjust and apply this knowledge in a dynamic environment without advocating for dogmatic practices
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, proven ability to track and successfully complete complex programs
- Degree in Computer Science, other engineering discipline, or Information Systems

- You're familiar with problems that are solved by monitoring tools
- Experience working in a company in a hyper-growth stage
- Experience growing a team (identifying roles, partnering with recruiting to hire)

The reasonably estimated salary for this role at Datadog ranges from $221,000 - $282,000, plus a competitive equity package, and may include variable compensation. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.
