Among its services, Amplify works in close partnership with Charles County Public Schools to offer small group reading tutoring. Students in Kindergarten through Fifth Grade will meet virtually with a Reading Tutor throughout the school year to build early literacy skills and close the achievement gap. Tutors and the Program Manager will be trained in Amplify's small group tutoring intervention program and assessment.
Position Summary
The Program Manager will play a critical role in managing a new virtual tutoring program that will be launched to support small groups of K-5 students, reaching up to 2,500 students and involving up to 85 tutors. The primary responsibility of the Program Manager will be to plan and successfully implement tutoring for the district. The Program Manager will hire, manage, and support a team of Reading Tutors and provide program communication and support to all school Point of Contacts. The Program Manager will develop and communicate program level goals and benchmarks with the district and will develop systems for communication and scheduling with school administrators, teachers, and parents within the tutoring program. The Program Manager will be part of a larger account team that maintains strong district relationships and communication.
The successful candidate will be a self-motivated, results-driven education leader who uses data to make decisions and ensures outstanding support to Reading Tutors. He or she will combine a capacity for systems and strategic thinking, deep instructional knowledge, attention to detail, excellent project management skills, and strong relationship building skills with critical internal and external stakeholders to ensure a successful program implementation. The Tutoring Program Manager will report directly to the Associate Director, Tutoring.
Key Responsibilities
The Tutoring Program Manager will also:

  • Hire Reading Tutors and ensure they complete onboarding tasks successfully
  • Communicate expectations with Reading Tutors and ensure they are on time, on schedule, and follow lessons with fidelity
  • Perform weekly payroll management for Reading Tutor cohort by tracking, reviewing, and approving timecards
  • Ensure high-quality performance of tutors by tracking absences and substitute coverage, as well as supporting the overall implementation of tutoring sessions
  • Develop and disseminate routine program-related communication updates to Reading Tutor cohort.
  • Collaborate with Tutor Coach in supporting Tutors with lesson planning and implementation
  • Collaborate with Tutor Coach to develop webinars for various stakeholders including teachers and caregivers
  • Communicate program tasks and updates with school and district stakeholders
  • Work with school leadership teams to schedule tutoring and ensure high quality implementation of virtual small group tutoring sessions
  • Work with internal teams and school stakeholders to create student small groups based on data
  • Routinely support school-based points of contact with inquiries related to technical support, student roster management, and other program-related needs.
  • Plan and facilitate internal team meetings that support Tutor development
  • Collaboratively develop program goals, team routines and correlating assets, and best practices for Reading Tutors
  • Maintain partnerships at the district level by providing program updates and sharing data trends
  • Create program level surveys for all stakeholders (school leaders, tutors, teachers)
  • Collaborate with data analysts to organize, analyze and report attendance trends and student achievement trends
  • Routinely analyze project wide data to pull out trends, codify findings and prioritize program needs
  • Build transparency for both internal and external teams to show visibility and insights
  • As needed, develop and implement an array of tutoring related webinars for various audiences such as school leaders and parents/caregivers


Required Qualifications
The ideal candidate for the Tutoring Program Manager is someone who has the following characteristics:

  • 5+ years of PK-12 school based experience
  • Experience delivering and leading intervention in a school setting
  • Experience with teacher and school leader coaching in both individual and group settings at a school and district scale
  • Knowledge of instructional strategies and practices, including methods of differentiating instruction and fostering student engagement
  • Deep understanding of data analysis standard methodologies in order to drive instruction and increase student achievement
  • Proficient with technology (GoogleMeets, Google docs, Google platforms)
  • Demonstrated experience handling complex projects in school/district settings


Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the Science of Reading in early literacy
  • Has experience tutoring
  • Knowledge of and experience using Amplify mCLASS products
