Postlight is looking for an experienced program manager to join our community of product managers, designers and engineers.  Postlight is engaged with multiple clients at any given time, and our project work is in various stages of design, development and delivery.  This is where you come in.

We are in need of someone who is passionate about organization, and who can hit the ground running.  You should be very comfortable working across multiple different projects at once, where you will help to manage workflows, prioritize deliverables, create and manage project plans, establish milestones and assess risk.  You will also interface with Postlight leadership on a regular basis, outlining the progress of project work and aiding in staffing and other organizational decisions.

Who you are:

• You have 3+ years experience as a project manager in a digital or software/product development organization.

• You have experience with software project delivery, and can accurately assess risks and opportunities.

• You have incredible communication skills.  You can tailor your communication to your audience, be that a client, internal stakeholders or external partners.

• You are decisive.  This means you can comfortably assign tasks, enforce workflow, and lead projects to successful delivery

•  You must be able to work with and understand the needs of your internal partners in design, engineering and product management

• You have experience in the development of many types of software, from web and mobile apps to native applications

• You have a strong understanding of the organizational tools we use to do our work, such as Trello, Airtable and JIRA

• You are able to facilitate work within distributed teams across multiple time zones

• You are proficient in using gantt charts to track progress

• You are proficient in common software development practices including bug tracking, issue tracking and release planning

What you’ll be doing:

• You will sit at the crossroads between creative, strategy and execution

• You will keep productivity high on multiple engagements that are in varying stages of completion, with different deadlines and scope

• You will unlock your team’s ability to do their best work by setting guidelines and priorities, and unblocking where necessary

• You will interface with every level of Postlight, from individual contributors on your project teams to senior leadership where you’ll be reporting progress

• You will sit in on staffing meetings to give clear guidance on how new engagements will be staffed

• You will sit in on client meetings to understand their needs, and help your team to translate those needs into a project plan

• You will attend internal team meetings to help set strategy, define the roadmap and milestones, and establish priorities

• You create reports that will allow leadership to understand how each project is doing, and where resources should be allocated

As a program manager at Postlight, your communication skills will be as important as your technical ones. Collaborating across time zones requires constant, clear communication and coordination, via Slack, GitHub comments, documents, and frequent video conferences. Postlight is headquartered in New York City, but a third of our team works remotely. We know how to keep everyone on the same page, and so should you.
